102.1 | More on CMRCM | LEDS::LEWIS | | Fri May 15 1987 12:27 | 20 |
| I also recommend CMRCM, I live in Northboro too and the flying field is
5 minutes away. I'm an instructor in the club but don't go out
Tuesday and Thursday nights much. You will find that many experienced
people in the club are more than happy to help.
I do most of my instructing at lunchtime during the week, as we
work five minutes from the field and it's a lot easier to teach when
there aren't several planes in the air. If you do join the club, I'd
be happy to help out on weekends when I'm there, just look me up.
The club does not allow beginners to fly alone, for their own
good and the good of the other people at the field. You will
understand why after your first lesson.
P.S. Re .1 - Charlie isn't the club president any more, he finally
had to step down after several years of service because he knew we
would vote him in every year. His sidekick, Steve Sherwood, is now
the president.

102.2 | Charles River Radio Controllers | ANKER::ANKER | Anker Berg-Sonne | Fri May 15 1987 16:31 | 13 |

I must recommend Charles River Radio Controllers (CRRC).
They have what must be the best flying field around (in the
middle of the Sudbury extension of Fort Devens) and have good
control over radio frequencies, general safety rules etc.. In
addtion, they have a bunch of extremely good flyers and a bunch
of very helpful instructors.
Some people find them stuffy and too stringent on safety
rules. I totally disagree.

102.3 | Westford instructors | DANUBE::JORGENSEN | | Tue Aug 09 1988 18:25 | 6 |
| I'll second what Jim said.... but the 495th also flies in Westford at
the Howard field... and there are several instructors that fly there.
Dick Bartlett is there on a regular basis(weekend AND weekdays), and he
is a *great* instructor. Give me a call or mail if you'd like more details.

102.4 | not all instructors are created equal | LEDS::HUGHES | Dave Hughes (LEDS::HUGHES) NKS1-1/E3 291-7214 | Tue May 02 1989 18:31 | 16 |

Just to clarify one point: Instructors.
The correct definition of instructor is: An experienced pilot who is
personally recommended to you by one or more pilots whom he/she taught
how to fly.
This is in contrast to the wrong definition: Somebody who tells you
he is an instructor.
The difference is subtle, but extremely important. And don't be
scared away by people who tell stories about instructors who cracked
up people's planes. It may have been the instructor, or it may have
been the plane. But nothing beats a personal recommendation.
