142.0. "Kittiwake" by CUJO::VINYARD (Baseball Fever... Catch it!) Sun Apr 26 1987 22:43
I want to start a note about floats and amphibious flying.

I haven't tried any of this but have just moved near a lake and
have thought about giving it a try. There isn't much information
on floats in here... does that mean that they aren't used much.

I am flying a somewhat home grown trainer... 60 sized with a K&B
    61. Great Planes makes a float kit for 60 size planes... has anybody
    used them?

Also in the May issue of the AMA magazine two pages in from the
back there is a kit advertised. It is a TopFlite kit... called
the kittiwake. It is a 20-30 sized kit and comes with a main float
that mounts under the fues. and then has two stablizers that mount
    under each wing.

How are TopFlite kits in general? I think that the kittiwake is
new, so I doubt that anybody has already built one.

Any hints/advice concerning amphibious flight would be appreciated...

    Thanks,

    Jeff
