I dont know if everyone heard but the St Louis area is getting a Busch
Race July 26 at Gateway International. The track was mainly a DRAG
strip, they are completing a 1.33 mile highbanked oval next to the
strip.
The Track is located just across the mississippi into Il. But is still
in site of the Arch.
The Indy cars ( US500) will be there sat. of Memorial Day weekend
instead of Michigan like last year.
The NHRA will be there for the Summer Nationals on June
And
The Busch guys will be there in July.
I drove past the track today. The Track itself is done. They are in the
process of putting the horizontal parts of the seats on the MAIN
grandstand now. They are also buildling a big tower condo-type in turn
1.
Its sure great to see nascar back in St Louis. Maybe one day the Cup
guys will be here too!

Re: last
The track is owned by Chris Pook of Long Beach GP (F1/CART) fame.
It's sited in Madison, Ill., just north of the bucolic burg of East St.
Louis, site of the annual Mid-America Body Armor Testing festival.
Pook also owns Memphis Motorsports Park, an is planning on developing a
1-mile oval there.
The Gateway Int'l oval is a 1.25 mile affair, and with low banking
suitable for Indy cars (think NHIS or Nazareth), and a warmup lane.
