This note is much like the Official Successful Deer Hunting File.
After all we will be hunting for the perfect gift left by the proper
person. I'll even bet some of us have started the hunt, Hmmmm not in
this closet maybe upstairs, ya that's where I'll look, up stairs.

So for all those who are successful this holiday season please list
your hard hunted for booty here.

 Talk about a surprise-

my wife and parents bought me a 7400 for Christmas... :-)

Now I've gotta exchange it for a .280 (they got me the 30-06 carbine). I'm
psyched, especially after they said "I'm not going to get you a gun" a hundred
times.

I received a real nice briefcase from my parents. A WOODLAND CAMO
briefcase, offical U.S. Army. My father is a retired Army Colonel.
It's real handy when I need to buy more hunting clothes! The
Quartermaster's store is the best place around. And the prices are
about half of what the local surplus stores charge.

I got a Lyman 2200 Turbo Tumbler from Santa. As far as guns go Santa
knows I have particular tastes so anytime I see something that I can't
live a complete live without Christmas could be any month. Last month I
got an early present, a Winchester Model 23 XTR 12 ga. S/S Pigeon Grade
    Featherweight.

                                                              Guy

    P.S. Thanks Santa...........

877.8Some things don't have to cost a lotBTOVT::LANE_NThu Dec 27 1990 13:4719
We (daughter and I) found a cloth store (Jo-Anne's) in St.Albans that
has real heavyweight raincoat-like (but not shiny or noisy) cloth of
the type that expensive backpacks and spring raincoats are made of.

She made for her husband and small twin boys, completely reversible
padded vests that her husband said were even better than LL Bean's'
last year, and this year made them all many-compartmented and zippered
packs to go with the vests, and a nice padded camera case for her
    husband's camping trips.

The price is around $7.00 per yard, total of perhaps 5 yards for
all 7 items with some left over.

She makes home-made bread all the time, too. These days people are
going back to the old crafts where possible to save money as well as
    eat better!

After telling my wife I wanted a black powder rifle for ten years
this year my son got her to go along with him. I picked out the TC
White Mountain, now all I have to do is pick it up. Life can be sweet
allyou have to do is stick with it.

	re .-1

You lucky devil you, Jim :-). Have you shot it yet?
How's the recoil? I have shot only 30-06 but I have
been wondering how much it would take to get used
to the 300 WM recoil. Now all I have to do is to
convince *my* wife to get me one of those beauties.
	Hmmm, let me see... :-)

re .14

No I have not shot it yet, no scope, but I have been tempted to
go out and shoot it any way. The recoil is about 15% to 20% more than
a hot loaded 30-06.
