I'm trying to find a spare tire for my boat trailer. The size is B78 X 13. I have priced one out at $100 locally, but that seems high. Any places that sell these things at a discount? Most clubs and Spags stop at 12". Also, what kind on nomenclature is "b78"? Never heard of this for tires. Dale

Not knowing where you live, I can make a suggestion. I have been very successful in obtaining trailer wheels and tires, mounted, from WAL*MART in their Sporting Goods Dept. The prices are great and all major brand name parts. Call first and save the trip if you have to travel any distance. Bob

Also, VIP auto centers (one in Merrimack, NH, on Rt. 101A), carry multiple sized mounted rim/tire combos at good prices. B78-13 is the old way they used to designate bias ply tires. The letter is the width (B is VERY narrow) and is analogous to the 215, 235, etc., you'ld see on radial tires. The 78 designates the width to height ratio (this is a tall/thin versus "squat" tire). 13 is the diameter of the rim it's mounted on. This tire happens to be a pretty heavy duty (or so I believe tire). Northern Hydraulics sells a mounted B78-13 with a 5 hole, 4.5 inch bolt circle rim rated at 1150# each for $61.99 each. I have these on my trailer. There order number is 800-533-5545 if you are interested. (item # 12121) Wayne

You may also want to try a Tire Warehouse or B.J.'s/Sams Club. Guy

If you don't want to buy new... I went down to my local tire vendor and asked to see his "special" inventory. I picked through tires until I found one that had reasonable tread and a decent rim. I saved a bunch. /C |
