Can anyone out there help me find a quality shorty barefooting wetsuit for my Husband's birthday? He just started barefooting last year. I live in the Merrimack area, but would prefer to order through a catalog if outside this area. I have listed a few below that I have selected out of "Barts" & "Ski Limited". CASAD UPROAR SHORTY $229.98 AMERICAN MX PRO 259.00 ESFORE 3000 229.95 SKI LMT NYLON II 129.95 I am concerned with protection & quality. Any help with this or recommendations as to what to look for will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sonia

Just got my Casad Esfore yesterday. It had been on backorder for three months with Ski Limited. To my knowledge, it is the only one that is also approved as a flotation device. I have not used it yet, but because of the extra flotation, the upper body protection seems to much better that other suits that I have seen. The protection on the butt seems to be less than what we were using at Barefoot International. If it turns out to be a problem a pair of Ironman shorts underneath will do the trick. The good news and bad news with the suit is it is probably good and warm for the cold weather, and really hot in the warm weather. The suit seems well made, but if I didn't care about not getting bagged for footing without a flotation device, I would probably have selected an Eagle suit from Mike Seipel's catalog. Now to loose 20 lbs so my XXL body will fit my XL suit a little better... Don

I saw an advert for overgrown shoes that you are meant to 'almost barefoot' in. Seems like a good idea for beginners and for use where the water may contain flotsam (like our docks where we ski). Anyone tried these? Do they work? Cheers - Ken

I've used old converse gym shoes and it's a different feeling and I don't like it. The use of gym shoes came about when we footed all day and the bottoms of our feet just couldn't handle it at the beginning of the season. It's very slippery. Try it for a new twist, but I wouldn't invest in any. |
