414.0. "Advice Wanted: Boat Builders" by MEIS::TOWNSEND (MOD MEM */PRIV=NOMODERATOR) Fri Jun 23 1989 12:29

My dad bought a Dyercraft 29' hull (A fancy lobster boat hull,
basically) and a Detroit 4-53 engine. Along with these, he bought every
single component needed to make a finished boat. This project would take
all summer and most of the winter. If things went slowly, it could become
two full years to finish it.

That was 1969. The boat still hasn't seen water.

Amazingly, it really is 99.95% done. Remaining work is to install
a spray rail, put the prop and shaft in, hook up the engine instrumentation,
and install hardware, lighting, etc. Realistically, two experienced people
working full time for 1 - 2 weeks ought to be able to finish it easily.

Does anyone have any recommendations on builders that do this kind
of work? Preference would be Portsmouth, NH area, north shore (MA), or
Portland ME, but it doesn't matter that much.

	Any leads much appreciated.

    Erik,
Try to get a hold of the Nynex boater's directory. I took a quick
look in there and found several ads for shops that finish and rig
boats. If you can't find a copy let me know and I'll mail you the
names of a few of the places. Or maybe someone has an extra copy
of the directory they can send you through interoffice mail.

You can also order a copy of the Mass/R.I. directory from Nynex
for $3. Call 1-800-648-8660 for the order form.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered the directory (Its $9.95 now). They
don't offer a NH/Maine version, so any suggestions in the Portsmouth or
Portland areas will be most welcome.
