Could someone give me some information on lobster licenses? This would be for Mass and for lobster potting (not scuba). I'm thinking in the area of 6 traps or less. Is there a non-commercial license? How difficult to obtain? Where to obtain? When to obtain? How much? thanks, tim

tim, Look in the fishing notes, there is a Mass Lobster License note that I started that has most of the info. btw...I bought six traps and fished them, I only have 4 left, lost 2 to the elements. Lots of short bugs and not enough keepers. I may sell the 4 traps (wire) that I still have. It makes a bit of a mess of you boat, about the same mess a good day of bluefishing. I can give more details if you are interested. Bruce | |||||

Call the Department of Marine Fisheries in Boston Ma. for an application. Non-Commercial licence is $30.00 (last year anyway) and can be had through the mail or in person if you want to make the jaunt into Bean Town. The licence is good a 10 pot family. Also doubles for taking bugs using scuba but only for the licence holder. lots of fun. /MArk |
