Two boats I saw at this weekends Newport Boat Show interested me. The first was the Imperial VC200 which has already been commented on. The second was a boat called a Citation 2100. It is a 21' cuddy with a OMC outdrive powered by a Ford 302 at 185 HP. The hull has a 5 year warranty and the powertrain has a 1 year warrany. I liked the boat because it didn't have carpet and a lot of excessive trim. Seemed to fit my needs/wants. List price was $18k w/o trailer. Any comments/opinions on this boat or the dealer (Hi-Way Camper located somewhere in Conn. near Mass border) thanks, tim

I was real unimpressed by the quality of workmanship I saw on the Citations at the N.E. boatshow. I think that the VC215 for $14,695 at Heavencraft is a much better buy with better fit and finish. I have no idea how either are in the water. The VC215 has great freeboard. The dealer isn't highly recommended, but few are in this file. Besides it seems that worst people there have left. john | |||||

A comment on OMC Cobra outdrives: The recent issue of Seaworthy (a Boat U S publication) notes that OMC agrees there is a problem with the Cobra outdrives. In that "at times it may jump into gear" they agree it is caused by improper installation and improper adjustme If anyone would like a copy of the article, pls. send me your mail stop etc. and i'll send out a copy. jim. |
