711.0. "Vote "yes" or Vote "No"" by CAPNET::SHAH () Fri Oct 01 1993 14:50

    Hello!

After reading so many notes, I feel that we are just talking but not
implementing it. I want to ask the memberships whether they support
special meeting and take care of these problem(s). If you are in
support of the meeting say "Yes". If you are not for the meeting
say "NO". This vote will give us the feeling whether we are serious
about this or not. So please start voting.

We need (by my reading of the by-laws) 1000 signatures on a REAL petition to
call a special meeting. I have no doubt that we can collect that many, and that
we will if necessary. Rather then create a note with 1000 replies, lets just
wait until after Chris posts his poll results, and hope that it spurs the BoD to
reconsider.

Lets be patient, and try to work WITH our board. If that fails, I have no doubt
a petition will be circulated, and if necessary, a special meeting will be held.

I agree that we all need a way do something. Let's just wait another week or
so. Our goal is a recission of the fees. We've got 3 months. Lets let the
process work.

Mark

In favor of a special meeting, if necessary!

RE: .-1

I used to agree with what you are sayng, but after talking to Lisa,
I am now in favor of a special meeting. There is NO doubt in my
mind that the BOD does not have any plans to change.

      No.

I'm very much against fees, but, I think special meetings
should be like nuclear war - reserved for only the gravest of
situations and not for micromanaging the credit union every
time the board does something that 200 people don't like...

I'm very disappointed in the apparant actions and attitudes of
some of the board members, but I think calling a special
    meeting is inappropriate.

A special meeting is very definitely in order. The BoD has
had very clear information about member wishes wrt fees. They
have had Phil G. and Paul K. to continually remind them of that
resolution. They have knowingly chosen by approving fees in
direct defiance of that resolution passed at the special meeting.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that even if the BoD
believes it is the right thing that Chuck Cockburn is through
the BoD issuing a direct challenge to see whether we really meant
    business the last time around.

If we proceed timidly now, that will be a clear sailing message that
they can do as they like. I say force a special meeting, confront
them, and throw them out except for Phil and Paul. Only a total
idiot would fail to get the message the second time around.

Baybank's current mailing looks attractive to us. If I'm going
to be hit with fees, then I'll take my business to a real bank.

If a special meeting petition is passed around, I'll sign it.

But no amount of special meetings will help unless we find
candidates who feel the way we do about fees and relationship
banking, and then get them elected to the Board. Will a
Special Meeting help publicize this issue so that people
understand that they need to vote for no-fees candidates
if they don't like fees? Hard to say, maybe worth a try.

PS -- Yeah, I know, the last set also promised to "try to hold
the line on fees". This time I for one will look for much
more explicit statements from the candidates.
