457.1 | They have mail | PLOUGH::KINZELMAN | Paul Kinzelman | Fri Feb 07 1992 10:08 | 4 |
| Patti has said they have a captive all-in-one account where they can send
and receive mail. It'd be easy to just mail the info daily to somebody
for posting like they did the postings while Nisreen was on vacation.
I think their mail account is something like DCU@PKO.

Sorry, I didn't like the tone of that sentence.
DCU is a distinct corporate entity, and is not part of the Digital
internal computer network. I believe there is a mail gateway that
allows mail to be sent, but there was a conscious decision made to
not provide DCU any direct access to the Digital network. I gather
the decision was a mutual choice by both DCU and Digital.
However, due to repeated requests from members, the DCU decided to
make important notices available through an acceptable channel to
the "DCU" notesfile. They forward any message they would like posted
to the moderator, who inserts the notes. If you check the "Author"
field on the DCU postings, you'll find either Nisreen ("BEIRUT::SUNNAA")
or the co-moderator ("STAR::CANTOR").

RE: .0
(Thank you .2)
This has been discussed over and over in the conference. DCU isn't
claiming anything that isn't true. DCU does not have access to the
network or the conference.
They do try to communicate to the conference via mailing to me (and
Dave Cantor when he was moderating the conference in my absence), and
in return it gets posted in the conference with the label "DCU POSTING"
to distinguish it from other postings.

457.4 | Tone not intentionally harsh | AIDEV::POLIKOFF | LMO2-1/C11 Marlboro MA 296-5391 | Tue Feb 11 1992 20:02 | 11 |
| I didn't mean to sound harsh. I think that loan rates are a very
important piece of information that should be easily obtained. They
have a DTN that gives the rates but the one I want is at the end of a 2
minute message.
And since I mentioned DTN, they use the DTN so they are not that
far removed from DEC.
They just started using Livewire to post all the loan rates EXCEPT
the mortgage rates. Mary Madden told me that they were working on
getting the rates on the tube.

I access this conference from my ALL-IN-1 account by typing NOTES from
any menu. Has the NOTES option been removed from the DCU-owned
ALL-IN-1 account?

Notes is an add-on not a standard part of ALL-IN-1.

DCU ALL-IN-1 account provide the NOTES access option?
I've not seen that specific question specifically answered.

457.9 | Hotline = ASPEN | CTHQ1::WICK | | Thu Mar 05 1992 12:22 | 10 |
| TSince the mortgage rate hotline uses the ASPEN vaicemail system you can use the
voicemail phone keybutton pad to manipulate listening to the message. For example
enter a 6 while the message is underway and it will speed up the message, multiple
6's will speedit even faster. Enter a 4 to slow it down again. Enter 9 to
increase volume and 8 to lower it. A 1 will rewind the message.
I speed up past the 15 year rates and slow it down again for the 30 year rates.
Hope this helps.
