274.0. "SURVEY by DCU...for what and when?" by BTOVT::EDSON_D () Wed Aug 28 1991 16:56

    I want to know, who has been surveyed by DCU and what was the survey
    about?

    I prefer to see only replies by those people who have been surveyed!

    By the way, to the best of my recollection, I have never been surveyed
    by the DCU.

    Thanks for not replying to this note if you have not been surveyed.

    I was surveyed sometime in the last 24 months. Being in the field, the
    survey was mostly meaningless.

274.2I wonder, did they survey .1 or .01% of members?BTOVT::EDSON_DTime for a DCU Coup!Mon Sep 09 1991 10:235
    Just as I thought! 1 person has responded to getting surveyed by DCU.

    I'm beginning to think that they survey only themselves (BOD).

    re: .2:

    To be fair, *one person who reads this conference has responded to
    getting surveyed by DCU*.

    This leaves two additional sets of potential respondees:

    	Not counted are those who read this conference who were surveyed
    	but have chosen not to respond here.

    	Not counted are those surveyed who do not know anything about this
    	conference and thus could not respond. (What I call the Earth
    	Freeway Bypass Syndrome (Ref, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy).)

      FWIW, I got a survey form back in 85 or so. I only vaguely
    remember it, but it was essentially a "fill in the circles"
    form asking about convenience of location/friendliness/competitiveness
    etc. At the time, we had Money-market checking, and I pretty
    much checked off "good" or excellent for everything and sent
    it back in...

274.5GUFFAW::GRANSEWICZI'M DCU and you're not.Mon Sep 09 1991 13:2617

    Asking DCU members in the field (who don't have a branch near them)
    about teller courtesy is meaningless. I have the results of one of
    their "surveys" that was published in one of their InputOutput
    brochures. My favorite question was "Staff calls you by name"!

    Asking everybody about "competitiveness" when people haven't been looking
    around for loans or savings alternates is meaningless. Ask those that
    just applied for loans or have just closed accounts. They can tell
    you.

    I'd love to see this survey done now. I think their responses for items
    such as "Accuracy of statements", "safety of deposits", "competitive
    rates on loans", "competitive interest rates paid on deposit
    accounts", "Branch hours" and "Fees" would be quite different if it was
    done for the entire membership. Or what's left of us.

    re .3

    I fully realize the fact that not everyone reads this notesfile, and
    even some who read would not respond to my query.

    But, I'd bet it fairly represents a good sample size. IMO, of course.

    DCU reports, what, 80,000 members? 46 people have signed into the
    Registry topic for this conference.

    RE: .7

    Do you know the ratio of read-only noters to read-writers? For
    everybody that writes, there MANY more that prefer to read-only. Human
    nature I guess. And this latest DCU 'choices' offer has evoked enough
    anger/frustration/whatever that several in the read-only crowd have
    taken the write plunge.

    BTW, I haven't "registered" so make that 47. Just something about
    "registering" I guess.

    So even if only half the people that use the conference have
    "registered", would you say that 0.12% is "representative" of the
    population?
274.11Numbers and MIXGUFFAW::GRANSEWICZSomeday, DCU will be a credit union.Tue Sep 10 1991 15:2711

    What I consider representative of the population is a survey taken of
    the entire population. I'm not at all sure DCU has a "representative
    population" anyways. Besides, what is important about being a
    "representative population" is not the number, but the proper mix.
    Opinion polls don't poll 50% of the population to generate fairly
    accurate polls do they? Do you agree?

    I wonder how many members DCU polls and what their selection criteria
    is?

274.12I got one...just about three weeks agoWIDGIT::WESTLet's get GUIMon Dec 16 1991 11:2814
  I haven't monitored this conference in a while.

  I received a lengthy survey about three weeks ago.

  The jist of it was to see how I liked all the wonderful services and whether
or not I was being well informed on what happens at DCU. (I said no!)

  I find out more info from this conference than in the enclosed propaganda
in the monthly statement mailings.

  I've also begun looking elsewhere for a place for MY money.
