2028.1There's a used 470 in my back yardVOYAGR::SAMPSONDriven by the windMon May 10 1993 13:3210
    The class chairperson, or whatever the title might be, is Alan
    Beckwith, who lives somewhere in Ma.. I don't have the info Handy, but
    I know I have it somewhere. I also have a 470 I haven't sailed much
    since I bought my S2. The boat needs some cleaning and wants a new
    mast, which is the major reason I haven't used it in so long. I sort of
    don't like the idea of parting with it, but it would be better fixed up
    and used than parked under a tarp.

    	God, that boat was so much fun!!!

2028.2Boston area contact has movedDKAS::SASSMon May 10 1993 16:489
    Geoff,

    I tried to reach Alan Beckwith in Allston, MA yesterday, but his phone has
    been disconnected. So if anyone knows his new whereabouts or another
    contact, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks.

2028.3Class contacts and a manufacturerMILKWY::SAMPSONDriven by the windMon May 17 1993 13:5030
Hi Peter,
     Sure enough this months Sailing World was the Olympic issue and the
class chairman for the 470 class has changed. I also stumbled across an
add for Vanguard, who made my 470, and thought that might be another contact.

So here's the info I got, I hope it is of some help.

     Class contacts;
     	Men
     	James Appel
     	38 Arundel rd.
     	Annapolis, Md. 21401

     	Allison Jolly
     	3440 Knoxville ave.
     	Long Beach, Ca.

     	16 Peckham Dr.

Good luck in getting a boat!

    It's also mentioned in Sailing World or Sailing (forget which)
    that you can get two kinds of 470--the normal lightweight
    competition one and a more sturdy version that has something
    like 35 pounds more fibreglass in it to make it more suitable
    for club and other non-competition use.

2028.5Thanks for the pointersDKAS::SASSFri May 21 1993 12:074
    Thanks for the pointers and info. I'll pick up a copy of Sailing
    World.
