The teak trim between the two plexiglass slide doors to my companionway is splitting. Any ideas for repairs? Can I put epoxy in the split and then clamp it? (Clamping itself will be tricky due to the shape of the trim.) Thanks, -gayn

Ah, it must be Spring! Yes you can epoxy the split itself and clamp it. This should prove stronger than the original wood if left to set properly. If you can get around the piece, a strap clamp works well on irregular shapes. if it is still mounted on the boat, a compression post or similar type of device may work also. If it can be pinned with a screw this may make the need for a clamp unnecessary. Good Luck! Brian |
