1530.0. "sextant repairs?" by KBOMFG::LOEST () Mon Jun 11 1990 08:45

    Hi out there,

    a friend of mine is looking for some help with a kontakt address in
    the U.S.

    He has a 50 year old sextant und needs some special tools and parts
    for it. It's a

    		US-Navy BU.NAV Mark II
    		Built Nr. 803-1940

    from David White Co. Milwaukee Wis.

    Does anybody know if this company still exists or where to get
    informations?

    Any help would be appreciated.

1530.1Sextants and the Hartford Power SquadronMCDONL::PASCUCCIMon Jun 11 1990 17:488
    The local U.S. Power Squadron uses that type sextant for training
    courses. I will check if they have any information. I don't think
    the company still exists. I think the Squadron does it's own repairs.

    I'll check as soon as I possible.

1530.3Celestaire, Wichita KansasRECYCL::MCBRIDETue Jun 19 1990 13:5710
    There is a company in Wichita Kansas that sells and maintains older
    sextants for both marine and aviation use. They are Celestaire and
    they advertise frequently in most of the major sailing publication (at
    least here in the states). Their number could be easily gotten though
    by calling directory information for Wichita Kansas USA. If I can find
    an old add laying around somewhere I will post it here. I cannot
    confirm that they will be able to help with your application though.

1530.4David White Co. Still Exists!WILARD::PASCUCCITue Jun 26 1990 15:2227
    Sorry I took so long, but I have just returned from a little
    sailing vacation.

    The David White Company still exists in Milwaukee,(Germantown) Wis.
    I called them and was told they no longer had any parts for that
    model but.... they sold all of the old parts to another company.
    That company is:

    			Scientific Instruments
    			518 West Cherry Street
    			Milwaukee, Wis.  53212

    			Voice  (414) 263-1600
    			Fax    (414) 263-5506

    The phone number for the David White Company is (414) 251-8100

    The person I spoke to at David White did not know the status of
    the parts sold to Scientific Instruments.

    Let us know how you make out.

    Regards,

    Frank
