The SAILING notes conference was begun in March 1984. It is open to all Digital employees. SAILING is intended to be a forum for the exchange of information and the discussion of any topic of interest to those of us who sail on the waters of the world. Collectively, the contributors to SAILING know much about boats and sailing, and SAILING provides a marvelous way to share what we know with each other. It is both envitable and desireable that there be a diversity of opinions about the many aspects of sailing. No one should hesitate to express his or her viewpoint or to ask a question. However, since SAILING is made possible by Digital, whatever is said in SAILING must be in accordance with company policy. Rudeness, disparaging another's opinion, harrassment, and other antisocial behavior are not acceptable. If you disagree with someone or think someone is wrong, say so nicely. If you haven't yet done so, please read Note 2 for information on how to use SAILING and on conference policies. The Moderator

While I am opposed to censorship in general, I will in the future set hidden or delete (without prior warning) any notes or replies to a note that in my view violate the spirit of this notesconference in particular and Digital company policy in general. And, please, no protests about freedom of speech or whatever. This is a company-sponsored forum that is required to follow company policy. Thank you for your cooperation, The Moderator |
