| Great Idea! I too have wondered if I could get a look at these boats
and the conditions their going through, but often wondered when, where,
and what time to see them (on the tube).
Tom Foote's coverage has been superb and my imagination is running. If
I hear or see anything you too will know.

| FWIW, sharing videotapes across the Atlantic won't work. Though European
TV coverage is likely to be much better than anything we see will here,
the signal is PAL standard, and all VCR's and TV's here operate on the
NTSC standard. Incompatible, unfortunately for us.

Tonight it was college basketball at 2300; but tomorrow (Fri, 12/1) ESPN
has a Leg 1 summary of "highlights" on at 2230 for a half hour. This
according to my TV Guide. ;-)

| ESPN coverage of Leg 2 is scheduled for Jan. 13 from 9:30 - 10:00
PM. (If I remember correctly.)
I accidentally (was tuned for Master's Tennis) saw most of the coverage
for Leg 1. I felt like I knew all the boats and the people and
seeing them was some of the most exciting TV I've seen. Thanks
to Tom' s excellent reporting. Again many thanks.

| They ran it at 7:30 Saturday evening, not 9:30 as originally published.
Though I just *happened* to catch it this time when my eyes flashed across
that time slot in the TV Guide, next time we'll have to check it out
thoroughly the moment that week's issue comes out, and post notice
accordingly.

| The resched also bummed us out Saturday evening. We even had a small
dinner party with sailing friends that was to be centered around the
6:30 PM (PST) telecast. If anyone taped it (VHS) and would lend it to
me I would gladly pay all expenses for getting the tape to Seattle and
back.

| I got lucky cause I didn't take the time to properly program my
VCR so just plugged in a tape and let it run. I was ripped when
I saw pool but when looking to see what else I got, I came across
the Whitbread. Haven't watched it yet but will do so tonight. I hope
Jobson talked less and we get to see more of the sailing.

We have the capability here in Acton (ACO) to dupe a tape. If you
have no other offers, you can send me a tape and I'll copy it for
you. By the way, I can do the same for Leg 1.

| According to my long range TV program guide, ESPN is rebroadcasting the
coverage of Leg 2 at 0930 EST 22 January 1990.
Jobson's commentary isn't so bad -- but the frequent and repetitive
[expletive deleted] commercials are incredibly annoying. Fast forward is my
favorite button on our remote control.

I hate when I miss a sailing program I really wanted to see because
I didn't know it was coming. I was miffed a couple of weeks ago when
I missed the highlites of the ProSail series.
What is needed is a tv guide of all sporting events to be broadcast
on the cable by sport/date/time/tv station.
I know there is one specifically for car racing. But what about all
the other sports.
It could even be an electronic bulletin board. Sailors being like they
are, it would probably be easy to gouge them for this service.
Who knows, maybe the audience would get bigger because viewing wouldn't
be so hap hazard. I mean Fall Saturdays are college football in the
States, and you can set your watch to the 1:05 kickoff of the pro game
on Sunday. Even body building has a set time on ESPN.

| Well it happened to me again. Got home last night after work, had a
good meal, and then got ready to view/copy the repeat of leg 2. This time
I said to myself, "self, you better look in the tv guide to make sure of
the time it starts."
Sure enough, it wasn't on that evening. It was on at 13:00 earlier
that day...!!! @#%! When am I going to learn...
If anyone has a copy of leg 2 please let me know. I will copy it and
return it in a couple of days.

| Great coverage last week. Especially the dismasting in Auckland Harbor.
What a nightmare as harbor had 10,000 boats all over the place. They
even had film of the mast coming down from aboard the ketch ( I mean
sloop .... ;>( ).

| The coverage of Leg 3 was scheduled for Feb 25 and was broadcast
on Feb 23 instead. Needless to say I missed it. After a lot of
traveling I am finally back home for some time didn't want this
to happen again. So to today I called ESPN!

I was told leg 3 would be repeated at 10:30 AM EST on April 13.
Leg 4 will be shown at 10:00 PM EST on April 16
Leg 5 " " " " 9:30 PM EST on May 21
They no longer produce a program guide! Guess they changed it so
much it was useless anyway.

Is the sailing still on ESPN for 9:30 tonight????
The first leg of the Ultimate 30/Johnson 14s from Hawaii was on
at Midnight last night on some NH station last night. Excellant
coverage Including a shot from the stern camerea of a crew member
falling off the wings and the captain intentionally flipping the
boat to stop it on a spinaker reach. There is a joint
austrilian/Californian team this year. Looks to be some good racing.

| Has anyone that ordered the VCR Tape from ESPN received it yet?
I received a postcard around the second week of July stating the
demand for the tapes was far beyond their expectation and a new
shipment would take place aroung the 15th of July. If I wanted to
cancel the order - return the postcard. I didn't return the postcard
and still have not received the tape.
