1138.0. "Noters Pictured in Sailing Mag" by ASABET::HO () Wed Mar 01 1989 08:27

The March issue of Sailing World (formerly Yacht Racing Cruising)
features a photo of several Sailing Notes participants racing in
newport last summer. With a good magnifying glass and a detailed
knowledge of the individuals' physiognomyies from the neck down
it won't be hard to tell who's who.

    Hey Gene,

I had heard that there was a picture of us on WAGS. But I haven't
seen the issue yet. I just hope we weren't doing anything too
embarrassing. Wonder if they'd have printed one of our "crew" pictures.

Embarrassing? Nah! You guys were just going right
when the rest of the fleet was going left.

Dean, you know the WAGS crew. We dance to the beat of a different
    drummer after all.

But since you brought it up, what's wrong with a port tack at that
point in the race. We had to tack sooner or later. We just figured
we'd beat the crowd to the other side. Would there have been some
advantage to staying with the fleet?

Now the things that bothered me in the picture were the halyard
tension on the jib and the crew positions. Plus the fact that I
never liked the looks of that Shore main, even in pictures.

Fortunately our new Doyle main and jenny are ready. And so are
    we. Come on spring ...

It's around page 20 somewhere. We're the front boat in the first
picture of a 2-page ad for the Audi/Sailing World NOOD regatta.
Incidentally, I also found out the same ad was in the Feb. issue,
somewhere near the back of the magazine.

Sailing Noters on board were Susan Bradley (sitting on the stern
rail), myself (standing in the cockpit with the purple shirt and
white shorts), and Gene Ho (sitting on the rail in a white shirt).

I still think they should've used one of our "NOOD" crew shots :^)

    ... bottoms up ...

PS - if anyone is interested in taking a few days off and racing
in this, I know at least two J/36's that'll be looking for crew.

1138.6got our picture in another sailing mag ...CUPTAY::BAILEYA pirate looks at 40.Wed Apr 15 1992 09:5610
Well, WAGS made it into another sailing magazine this month ... even
though we've sold her and she's no longer WAGS ... :^(

In the current (April '92) issue of Cruising World there's an article
on boat graphics. We've got a picture in the article ... on page 98.
    It's an old picture though ... from '86 I believe, as I haven't worn
yellow foulies in at least five years.
