158.0. "Looking for a Club" by SDC004::JMAY () Wed Aug 14 1985 14:09

	I'm looking for a mooring or a slip to anchor my boat
	on Lake Winnipesaukee.

	I've been given a few names of marinas and one for a
	club. To date, no one has anything available.

	Here's where I've tried:

	1.  Faye's Boat yard
	2.  Erwin's Marine
	3.  Goodhue & Hawkins
	4.  Corinthian Yacht Club

	Does anyone know of any other clubs or marinas on the
	Lake that I could try?

		Thanks,
		Jim

Your problems may be just beginning! I read recently in the Globe that The state
just put into effect an emergency ban (60-90 days) on new moorings in
Winep....... This may jack up the prices on existing rent/lease moorings for
next season. What's the waiting list situation?

The three marinas told me of the current situation. I guess the State
had to step in due to the way people had been installing temporary
moorings.

They're looking to enforce more strict control on this.

Not one place would allow me to be put on a waiting list. Each one
told the same story of having a list at least a mile long. No one
would quote prices or time estimates...try a again in the winter.

One place told me I should start calling in January, every day!
They said you never know. You could call one day and be in the right
place at the right time!

Try Minge (pronounced Min-gee) Cove Marina. It is on Rte 11, about 6 miles
NW of Alton Bay. We trailered out of there last year. He would have accomidated
my COM-PAC 16 last fall for $100 from Labor Day thru end of season.

There are many other marinas on the lake - there must be dozens. It might be
worth a trip around the lake, using a chart to locate the marinas. You can
get a Winnipesaukee chart at any marina on the lake.

158.4what boat for Chatham?STARCH::HAGERMANFlames to /dev/nullThu Apr 20 1995 14:3214
    Not sure where this note belongs, but I was wondering if anybody knew
    what the "dinghy of choice" might be in the Chatham area. One thing
    I've figured out is that what you want is the kind of boat everybody
    else has, partly because you might want to enter a race and partly
    because the marina will have the parts for that kind without ordering
    them.

    I see that in the DaySailor note there's mention of two Chatham clubs;
    is this what one would plan to race in Chatham or is there some other
    standard dinghy? I'm not ready for a keelboat...

    Doug.
