| I've found Perdue to be relatively sound chicken. Also Holly Farms. These
are both premium varieties, and cost a bit more than the generic store brands.
However, they are usually prepackaged, and suffer less from the local
beatings given them by store personnel. Besides, if you have a problem with
Frank's chicken, you can always write him and get your money back.

1446.2 | Try a Kosher Butcher | PVX::SFREEMAN | Sam Freeman, DTN 223-5871, PK03-1/C18 | Wed Oct 19 1988 08:26 | 14 |
| Try a Kosher Butcher. You will probably have to pay more
but you will find unblemished poultry.
In order to be certified kosher, the animal is slaughtered
in a prescribed manner and is inspected to insure that it
is free of blemishes and injuries. If the animal is
blemished or injured it cannot be sold as kosher.
There are kosher butchers in many towns adjacent to Boston
proper. Look in the yellow pages under Markets - Kosher.
Note that kosher markets close early on Friday and are
closed all day Saturday and on Jewish holidays.

1446.4 | Thanks for the replies. | PIETRO::ANSELMO | Don't Worry, Be Happy...or else! | Thu Oct 27 1988 07:52 | 8 |
| Thanks for the pointers. I have used Perdue chicken for the last couple of
chicken dishes that I prepared, and there is a noticeable difference in
quality compared to the 'generic' supermarket poultry.
I look forward to visiting Bread and Circus when I have a chance. Sounds
like an interesting place.
