| It's about time there was a Barcelona note in this conference. I've
been a fanatical supporter since I was two years old and I've only missed
one home game since then (It was a 9pm kick-off and my mum reckoned
three year olds should be in bed by 8).
Anyway, a good result for us last night against those foreign scum.
That teach them to take the Piss and put a bus-driver in goal against
the mighty Barcelona !

| Mike,
might have to do that, the anti Man Utd feeling runs very deep, and that's it I
can't hold back any more, i've been bottling it up for so many years. It all
started back in 1984 a cold misty afternoon, I was casually walking down Green
Street in East London heading towards the Chapel of Worship (Upton Park), and
not the St Davids Catholic Church nearby, when I heard this cries "Glory, Glory
Man Utd, Glory Glory Man Utd....and the reds go marching on", when I saw a light
from the skys, and heard the words..."my friend victory today is nigh", several
moments later I realised the light was merely a floodlight pylon, and the words
were spoken from a lunatic Gideon worshiper, he said to me 'my son i'll prey for
you, I can rescue you", I replied "just make sure that Robson guy get's sent
off", "and that we're not in the bottom three by Christmas".....the guy was
still their when I made the lonely, tiresome, cumbersome, and many other words
that end in some, tearsome, unfulfilledsome, pissedoffsome, ifuckinhatemanutdand
robsonisadirtybastardsome", i won't tell you what i said to my Gideon friend on
the way back, words like "still there next week and your be preying for your
life spring to mind...needless to say we lost 3-1, Robson mouthed off all game,
and didn't get sent off.
Glad I got that off my chest, changing the subject slightly, went and saw pulp
fiction last night, brilliant film, have you seen it yet.
The connection between this and FC Barcelona is that;
whilst queing for the film i saw an old daily mail newspaper on the steps, which
had a picture of Terry Venables, wasn't the best picture i've seen, had a rather
large footprint accross his head.......

A fine battling performance by the Mighty Barca only to be robbed by
dubious refereeing decisions. It is obvious that he was paid by the
dastardly Manchester fans so that we would lose and give them hope that
they will still qualify after their pathetic performances in this
group.

Watched this game...well how did Real get knocked out of the UEFA Cup
This display was awesome. I can safely say that the best football in
Europe seems to be played in Spain at the moment. Technique and Speed
whilst looking controlled all add up to a very entertaining game. The
National team shoed their strength in Belgium just before Christmas and
now must be ranked early favourites for the European Championships.
Their success in the World Cup shouldn't go unnoticed !!

| Reported Romario is on his way for 4m pounds. Cruyf is so pissed off
with him that he's said that Romario doesn't even have to pay any
compensation for leaving before his contract is up.
It seems that after scoring 30 goals last season he's only scored 4 so
far this time around. Cruyf critisised his senior players, especially
Romario and Stoichkov, after the 5-0 defeat by Real.
From what I saw he must have raised his game for the EC as he was
brilliant in that.

When you say Romario / Barcalona were brilliant in the Euro Cup, do you
mean you saw all the games or just the very easy one they had against
Man Utd ?
Bara have played pretty poor all season and the interest level of
Romario is definately suspect. I think they will struggle against PSG
and may well fail to qualify for the semi's.
Although it is not yet half way throughthe season they look a long shot
for the Spanish league title.
Questions are also being asked as to whether Cruyff himself may be
ready to quit.

| >When you say Romario / Barcalona were brilliant in the Euro Cup, do you
>mean you saw all the games or just the very easy one they had against
>Man Utd ?
Yes, I only saw the *two* games against Man Utd but they looked very
impressive in both. I haven't been following what's been going on in
the Spanish League too closely and as I don't have a wok I haven't seen
any league games so I couldn't comment on their regular form. I was
going on what other people had said and thought that maybe, as losing
finalists last time, they were putting a lot of effort into the EC this
time around. However, you seem to think that their form in the other EC
matches hasn't been up to much as well. Thanks for pointing that out.
Regarding Romario, I think that being chosen as the outstanding player
by most commentators in the WC this summer has finally made him think
he *is* a great player. I imagine he's a big-headed git who thinks he
bigger than Barca. This is probably the cause of his current problems.
Paul.

3m raised by 4 corporations, including the Brazilian state petroleum
company and the Rio municipal authority. Barcelona refused to accept
the word of the Flamengo president and demanded proof of the money
being deposited in their bank account. Romario is on a 2 year loan and
the 3m is the loan fee. Barcelona still have ownership rights over
Romario. If in 2 years time, Flamengo want to "keep" Romario they must
pay a further 3m. If Romario is sold to another Spanish club, there is
a 4m penalty for Flamengo to pay, whilst if he goes to another
Brazilian club, the penalty is 1m. Barcelona have the right to veto
any transfer. Apparently, Barca wish to ensure that he never plays for
Real Madrid.

BTW As we're in the Barca topic here's an interesting one. Did anyone
