After much demand this is the St. Pauli topic.

They're also my favourite German side and I hope some day to get to the
    Millerntor to see them play.

Ah, so we got it going ...

Yesterday Herbert Liedtke, current St.Pauli manager was sacked. His
contract expires on Jan 31st. He was accused of having gained private
advantages out of his contacts to St.Pauli sponsors.

7 players including Thomforde, Gronau, Kocian and Sailer are suffering
from a food poisoning after Klaus Ottens birthday party. With
Hollerbach, Knbel and Nicolic still being injured it will be difficult
to reach the final in the Ratsherren-Cup this weekend, which would
improve their chances to participate in the German Indoor Masters Cup
    later this year.

Other Ratsherren-Cup participants are (by heart)
    	Hamburger SV
    	Slavia Prague
    	Holstein Kiel ?
    	Dinamo Dresden ?
    	Spartak Moscow ?

"Millerntor (sp?) Roar" fanzine is available from Sports Pages,
Cambridge Circus, London. A knowledge of the German language
is useful, mind. Are St Pauli the only German club with a fanzine
    to it's name?

                                  2 - 1

Quite good result, for St.Pauli played with 4 professionals only, the
other 6 players were recruited from St.Pauli's 4th Division amateur
    team.

St.Pauli has not made it to the master on their own, still they can
qualify - depending on the results of the other indoor tournaments.

After 10 yrs of football at the Millerntor Volker Ippig has officially
resigned at the age of 29. He was having serious problems with his
spinal column/vertebra (Wirbelsule - says my dictionary). He will
now start an education to become a non-medical practitioner
    (Heilparktiker).
He will also do some goalkeeper coaching, for the St.Pauli junior
    teams.

    A loss, really, Alter.

Very sad news. Volker wasn't only an excellent goalie during our 1st
league adventure, he was a strong link between fans and the team, too.

He always kept his good relation to the supporters, and this is the major
    strength of St.Pauli.

I remember well the first time I say him playing - about 82, before he
went to Nicaragua for a year (guess it was against Holstein Kiel, a 3rd
    divisioner).

Good luck Volker, we'll never forget you

Zweite Bundesliga Nord
Promotion Round 2nd day:

FC St.Pauli	- SV Meppen	1:0
Hannover 96	- VfB Oldenburg	1:1
Bayer Uerdingen	- Hertha BSC	2:3

1. Bayer Uerdingen	38:25	30:18

3. Hertha BSC 35:29	27:21
4. FC St.Pauli 32:27	27:21
5. Hannover 96 26:25	27:21
6. VfB Oldenburg	40:34	25:23

Some hope left. After Uerdingens surprising loss to Hertha on Sunday things
are no longer looking as bad as last week. A victory in Oldenburg on Saturday
is necessary, however.

Jetzt geht's looo-ooos.

76.13Sailer on the way to leave?COL01::STANIENDAA fish on dry landWed Mar 18 1992 17:167
Heard some rumours that Markus Sailer wants to leave St.Pauli at the
end of this years round, if they won't qualify for the 1st division
again. Is he only kidding for a better next-years-contract or are
things more concrete? Think it would be real sad losing such a talent
    after only one year.

    Rainer
76.14Toni,ToniHAM::SCHARNBERGZo fo Draziw (jun.)Thu Mar 19 1992 09:5526

    Yes, rumours, indeed.

It comes up every now and then. Sailer, Acosta, Nicolic, Driller ...

All those players that have the skills for the 1.Bundesliga.
Another rumour has it, that Golke will be returning to St.Pauli because
Nrnberg have only paid little of the DM 1,2 million transfer fee.
    Who knows ?

As far as I know Sailers contract expires after the *next* season. They
    shouldn't let him go.
Besides, a player to have a look at moght be Thomas Goch, from
St.Paulis amateur team. He has played a couple of good preparation
matches, and will probably be on the pitch against Oldenburg.

    My prediction:

    	VfB Oldenburg	2 - 2	FC St.Pauli
    	Drulak (2) Goch, Sailer

I'm even more optimistic; I bet St.Pauli gets two points from
Oldenburg - maybe winning 1-0, but this seems to be our last chance
to qualify for the 1st division.

Maybe I'll head over to Oldenburg on Saturday to support the
    St.Pauli-supporters.

OK It's not St.Pauli, but I didn't find another note, where to post
    this:

The management of TuS Hoisdorf (3.league) thinks whether they are
going to relegate voluntary at the end of this season, as their
sponsor converts to the VfB Lbeck. 7 Hoisdorf-players are going
to join Lbeck in the next season.
Mr Bruss (the sponsor) sees no abilitiy for the TuS Hoisdorf to
get into the second Bundesliga with Hoisdorf as the village is
not willing to sponsor a new football-ground or even some parking-lots.

    Sigh...

76.17Always the same story...COL01::STANIENDAA fish on dry landFri Mar 20 1992 16:0722

It's always the same story with this kind of clubs.

1st stage: An average-talented team, an ambitious sponsor,
lot of new players bought, surprising success
                and lot of media noise.

2nd stage: The sponsor looses his interest or gets bankrupt, the
players start looking for a new employer, no more
success and the team moves back to his roots (say,
                5th or 6th division)

I'm sorry to say this, but it's nothing new in the region of
Hamburg. Remember Hummelsbuettler SV? Remember SV Lurup (where my
cousin played for some years)? They both came from 6th division,
had a lot of success (played even the qualification round for
the 2nd league) and now they are where they started from.

The only team I'm really missing is Concordia Hamburg (for their
excellent work with young, talented players).

By the way: I'm afraid that the defeat at Oldenburg ends all our

successful. Nothing more to win nor to loose: its better for my

Oh Gee, doesn't sound good, but I can understand them; Driller and
Nikolic surely can make it in the Bundesliga too. Seems we'll have
a long hard way to go if we won't get up again this year.

I just recall what ex-manager Liedtke said at the start of this

      "We're no pikes (=Hechte), we're the SHARKS in the fish-pond;

If someone would ask me (but nobody will do, for sure), I would
prefer Michael Lorkowski as new St.Pauli coach. He already did this
job a couple of years and a lot of young, talented players (Andre
Golke/now Nurnberg, Stefan Studer/now Frankfurt, Volker Ippig
and so on) started their career during this period.

In my opinion, it was basically HIS team, which made it up to the
1st division (though he was sacked a year before and many folks have
    forgotten this part of history).

I spent a week in the Netherlands (holidays on a motor boat) and
Uerdingen heading for the 1st division doesn't make me chatty, too.

But just a little bit of gossip:
Yesterday, 2nd divisioner Hannover 96 has won the cup-semi-final
against last-years-champ Werder Bremen (7-6 or so in the penalty
scoring, can't keep such large numbers in mind). Now the final is
against Mnchengladbach and Hannover has a realistic chance to win
the cup as the first 2nd division team of all times.

Their trainer, Michael Lorkowski, is still in negotiations with
St.Pauli to sign a contract for next year, but as I read some days
ago (not in the "Morgenpost", but in the "Kicker"), he declared to
quit his trainer job and to immigrate to the Caribbean Sea (where
he wants to do some yacht charter and sailing courses) - perhaps
in two or three years, or right now if he wins the cup with Hannover.

Don't know if this is just another story to fill a headline or some
    realistic perspective.

Bayer needed a draw to get promoted. They made it, luckily.
St.Pauli dominated, but didn't produce enough clear chances.
With the information that VfB Oldenburg was leading 2-0 in Meppen
it was clear that a victory for St.Pauli would push little Oldenburg
into the Bundesliga. Uerdingen was getting even more nervous, just
kicking the ball out of the danger-zone. St.Pauli's fans shouting
for Oldenburg, but still Uerdingen managed to keep their goal clean by
backpassing from the middle and kicking forward without concept.

Just curious, but how many of the team sform the old East German league
are still in the Budesliga? Now that last years champion Rostock is
going down, I think there would be one, maybe 2 at the most.

I'd guess that Dynamo Dresden are the only "East" German club left
in the top flight of the Bundersliga. Rostok started the season off
very well and led the table for a few weeks. I wonder why it all
went wrong? Where is Uerdingen by the way?

There were talented players in the former GDR ....

Dynamo Dresden was the *only* team, not to sell their players to the
    rich western clubs.

    Some examples:
Sammer -> VfB Stuttgart -> Milan (next season)
Doll -> Hamburger SV -> Lazio (last season)
    Thom	-> Leverkusen
    Kirsten	-> Leverkusen
    Rohde	-> Hamburger SV
    Kruse	-> Frankfurt

Hansa Rostock suffered under their egocentric manager Kische, who
always interfered in the team's affairs. The very much respected coach
Uwe Reinders had too leave after long months of quarrels, rumors and
    intrigues (sp?).

Brandenburg, Erfurt, Halle as former GDR clubs dropped out the
    2.Bundesliga.
    Remaining:

    Bundesliga: Dynamo Dreseden
    2.Bundesliga	Hansa Rostock
    			FC Jena
    			Chemnitzer FC
    			VfB Leipzig

and maybe 1 coming up, possibly Union Berlin or FC Magdeburg.

Uerdingen is a suburb/part of Krefeld wich lies at the river rhine.

sunday that he won the GDR league a few times with them???!!! Maybe you can post
a list of the previous GDR teams these players (Doll,Thom,Kruse, etc) played

Is it true that Feldkampf has retired, or was I just dreaming this morning??
I heard something on the radio but I wasn't really listening. If its true then
why???? He was (with Rehagel) the most successfull German manager over the past

Sure I am, but I don't know for how long in this hard times at
    DIGITAL's.

Surprising that Lurup is so strong in these times. I remember they
had one sponsor - Uwe Einsath, who owned a scaffold construction
enterprise - and when he took his money out of the club their rapid
    descent began.

But without money it's hard to survive even in the 3rd division
(and Lurup didn't have too many spectators - I saw games of
them in the Oberliga Nord with 200 visitors or so). So, is there
someone new who puts his money into the team ?

By the way: Have Sailer, Nicolic and Driller found new teams

haven't heard something new of St.Pauli for a long time - and it's
only 3 weeks to go for next years round (or don't they start at
    11th of July ?).

My expectations are quite positive, but a bit sceptical, too. With
24 teams (= 46 matches) we need a very long breath, but I hope that
our new coach will give St.Pauli another push to the top - as he
did some years ago. The relegates from 1st division won't be too
strong - except from Duisburg - (who's afraid of Rostock or Dusseldorf?)
but only 2 teams qualifying for 1st division is a bloody hard
    selection.

As a regular visitor of Hamburg I have to admit that former writer is
right ( it must be Heiko......I guess...). I 've been to HSV a couple
of times, "um die Bayern die Lederhose aus zu ziehen" ( favourite
sport of Hamburgers : pulling Bavarians there leather pants out) !
There they said that St Pauli was a club of Hooligans and bad
people.... But at the Millerntor I saw once a very pleasant game
between the two. But nowadays, after the fall of St Pauli, it seems not
    to be very friendly there.........

    John,

I wouldn't say it has become unfriendly. The atmosphere is not as
chilling as it used to be. Two years ago the Millerntor was sold out
at every match. The crowd was cheering, although to lads were utter
crap. Both sides (fans & team) were doing their best, the lack of
skill was unimportant. The crowd itself was a colourful mixture, just
as St.Pauli is. The prostitue from the Reeperbahn was cheering together
with the neat lawyer and the punk Hafenstrae anarchist.
There were more Jolly Jumpers (?? - the pirate flag) than Brown-White
    St.Pauli flags.

Last season, the Millerntor was only sold out a few times. The crowd
started to whistle at halftime, when St.Pauli played bad.
    It's no party anymore.

I felt it as unfriendly when I was there.....different from a couple of
years ago. And I do agree that it was a very mixed crowd...but is the
crowd of HSV so much different ????? HSV behaves as the club with more
status but St Pauli proved always to have more guts ; didn't they win
enormously last year in the Ratsherren ( Pilsener ?) tournament ?

And the whistling is something that belongs to Hamburg : I have always
seen them as a crowd that favours the sport. When a team plays bad ( or
have a bavarian background...;-)) they whistle, the good team gets
applause ! Never mind if it is the home team or the opponents.
Examples : when Ajax won, they were cheered by the whole crowd, and HSV
    was whistled out.......

    re: -3
Things said by Hamburger SV supporters should be regarded as
subjective feelings, I think. There has always been slight enmity
between HSV and St.Pauli and with increasing success of our team
this has become even stronger. I just would answer with another
subjective statement: if you like to meet skinheads and headbangers,
HSV is better for you - because Millerntor is nazi-free zone.

    re: -2,-1
Maybe you're both right - but I think that's normal. I have seen some
outward matches last year (e.g. at Fortuna Koeln and Uerdingen) but
haven't been at the Millerntor for even one game. My impression is:
there are still a lot of folks traveling around with the team
and they support St.Pauli as strong as they ever did, but it's
not that "fashionable" to be a "St. Paulianer" as it was two years
ago - and those thinking in "Whats In? Whats Out?" categories start
changing their minds. But it doesn't bother me too much - IMO those
guys/girls from the red light zone and Hafenstrasse punks are more
dependable than young lawyers and yuppies from advertising agencies.

So maybe we have to pass harder times but I still believe in the
    spirit of St.Pauli.

HSV has always been the rich club. It isn't rich at all these days,
but still they're having their home in Harvestehude, which definetely
is one of parts of Hamburg, where the rich and famous live. They used
to have their training campus at the Rothenbaumchaussee in
Harvestehude, right opposite to the Rothenbaum Tennis Courts, near to
the University. As they were in heavy financial trouble last year they
had to sell it, they got DM 10,000,000 for it - from the city of
Hamburg. Who knows, what a private man would have given. After all,
HSV still has the character and attitude of a rich, hanseatic sports
club. They were German Champions twice in the 80ies and won the EC.
They had players like Thomas Doll, Manfred Kaltz, Felix Magath,
Kevin Keegan and Uwe Seeler. All well known, even outside of Germany.

FC St.Pauli, on the other hand, is located in St.Pauli. A working class
district of old, a red-light district of international reputation.
The Millerntor is right next to the Heiligengeistfeld, a traditional
Circus and Entertainment place. The Reeperbahn is 300 meters away from
there, DEC Hamburg 1km :-). Little green, occupied rotten houses,
black, red and blue-dyed hair, Cabarets and night-clubs, that is
the neighborhood of FC St.Pauli. Volker Ippig and Klaus Gerber are the
famous players. No one ever made it to the German national squad.
I'm not sure, if St.Pauli ever was German Champion. If they were, the
year 1911 is correct, I think. The greatest success in history was the
1:0 against Bayern in Munich 2 years ago. They have never been more
than an ordinary site. The 'Volksfest'-atmosphere and their will
to give everything (of the little they had) made St.Pauli something
    special.

St.Pauli away to Hertha BSC Berlin. That's a toughie, probably. The

German Zweite Bundesliga started last weekend. St.Pauli drew luckily in
Berlin against Hertha BSC.

A goal for St.Pauli and a Red-Yellow Card for Hertha were directly caused
by the new FIFA-Rules. Hertha totally outclassed St.Pauli in the first half,
comfortably leading 2 - 0. But then Leo Manzi was lucky to profit from a
hilarious misunderstanding in Hertha's defense, when goalie Junghans blocked
a St.Pauli shot but couldn't get hold of the ball. Hertha player Seckler stood
right beside him, but was reluctant to play the ball to Junghans, as this could
have been a back-pass. Manzi jumped in between and easily scored.
Later Feinbier of Hertha was sent off, because he angrily kicked away the ball
after a referee decision he didn't agree with. According to the new rules, this
instantly gives a yellow card. It would have been Feinbier's second one.
Peter Knbel scored the equalized in the 86th minute with a penalty.

This was a "Big Point", IMO. Hertha was quite strong, as I saw it
on TV, but St.Pauli never gave up the fight so the draw was OK.

Yesterdays "Hamburger Abendblatt" gave the new players Schwinkendorf
(sp?) and Jeschke good critics, so there are some talents again.
This makes me more optimistic, since you need more than 11 good
players for such a long season.

Next match against Darmstadt should be different, but not easy, too.
I bet they will play very defensive and go for draw. I'm not sure
what will happen if there are twenty or more players in Darmstadt's
half for the whole time (My prediction is as 1-0, but it could be
    also a 0-0).

Very good, offensive performance of St.Pauli. It should have been
a 4 or 5 nil, after all. Aerdken, in his third professional match,
had two other clear chances, Jescke in his third professional match
    had two clear chances.
Says Michael Lorkowski (Coach): In Berlin we tried to play defensively,
and drew luckily. From now on we'll play attacking football, I prefer
it anyway. Gronau, Manzi and Philipkowski didn't play at all, Driller,
Gatti and Ottens played instead of them. "We have 24 players, nobody
has to sit and watch from the bench for the whole season."

    FC St.Pauli - VfB Leipzig 0 - 0

A goalless draw is always somehow disappointing, but it was achieved
against the strongest defense in the 2nd league (nobody scored even
one goal against Leipzig in the first four matches). Leo Manzi played
quite well in the 2nd half when he substituted Martin Driller, who
    was not that strong.

The Millerntor was completely sold out with 20,500 spectators.

Next game is against Wuppertaler SV on saturday and I will definitely
join the St.Pauli crowd, because it's only 100 km from my hometown

Wuppertaler SV - FC St.Pauli 3 - 0

I can't remember another match I've been to as worse as this one.
St.Pauli had only one real chance (2' by Aerdken) and the defense
was terribly bad. All goals were scored from short distances when
St.Pauli defenders were far away from their opponents. Forget the
game, but everything else was great.

Wuppertal has an very old stadium which is located near the center
of town with a lot of bars next door. Since noon those were occupied
by St.Pauli fans singing, drinking and enjoying themselves, but
never aggressive or violent. Somebody said sometimes ago, St.Pauli
matches are not a party anymore, but I can't confirm to this.

Though it was 350 km to travel from Hamburg, 1500-2000 supporters
came over to Wuppertal and nobody really cared about the awful
game. Instead of whistling they were singing "So ein Tag, so
wunderschoen wie heute" (the typical hymn after glorious won matches)
even when there was absolutely no chance left for a draw and at the
end the team got a lot of applause.

And another short story (which would have been worth to be documented
by german TV): Next to our block stood a group of Wuppertal right-
wing supporters who had put a German World War II banner at the
fence. Some of us demanded "Take that flag away!". To clarify their
mindset, those Ultras came to the fence, raised their right arms
(which was called "Hitlergruss" in former times) and exclaimed some
paroles. Now the whole St.Pauli crowd started shouting for minutes
"Nazis raus" and "We don't want no Nazi pigs" with ever increasing
loudness - until two policemen went over to those chaps and removed
the banner. This was one of those moments when I was really proud
to be a St.Paulianer (and a big point for Wuppertal police).

Two years ago I bought a replica shirt via a mail order distributor from
Saarbruecken and it was at DM 70, I can remember (I could give you the
address, but today is my last day in the office until the end of

I've been rather quite for some weeks, because of my vacation and lot

my parents and this is a good opportunity to see a home match of
St.Pauli after long time. I just noticed that they will play at home
against Remscheid, but don't know the exact fixture (Friday evening?
Saturday - which would be best ? Sunday?).

    Anybody got a clue?
I think it will be no problem to get tickets, since there were only
12,000 visitors against Nuernberg, or am I too optimistic?

As far as I know Remscheid is such a bad team, that we definitely

of the list. Seems to me we're only tough against stronger teams

No, the vote was made in the HSV, resulting in a 14:3 against Coordes.

Lorkowski, however, has announced, that only those players will be

Though Bonn is a little town and our local press is quite provincial,
sometimes they can hear the grass grow:

>> Our local newspaper from Bonn asserted yesterday that there was a
>> vote within the team pro/con coach Lorkowski and that it resulted
>> in a clear majority against him.

This was a short episode - I didn't expect that when he started his job
in summer and I was sure he was the right man for St.Pauli. But IMO he
made a lot of mistakes so the decision was correct:
  - always changing the offensive players doesn't rise flexibility
but it makes them feel uncertain - not only the young ones
  - the defense was as unstable as never before - all his steps to
improve this (changing the libero etc.) brought up nothing.
Now the decision is made without long discussions and delays and there
is still enough time to change things during this years season.

>> Don't know how things will proceed - maybe with a revival
>> for Helmut Schulte ?

This was originally ment as a joke, but everytime I think about it, it
sounds more like a good idea to me: Helmut is still without a contract,
so he would be directly available, his popularity is another important
factor and if the sad story of the lost son (shut out by some corrupt
managers) gets a happy end with his glorious revival this would fit
well into St.Pauli's ambiente, wouldn't it ?

With rising curiosity,
Rainer

    Hi John,

Luckily I read your reply. I am at work for only 4-6 hours a week these
days, as I am having the first exam for my diploma on Monday, 19th.
This also means that I don't have too much time to figure it out, but
you will surely get more news within the next days.

    Hi John,
I think St.Pauli won't play at home that weekend (23.-25.), because
their next home match is on 17.10. against Waldhof Mannheim, so they
probably have to play somewhere else on that date. But I not sure, too,
so I'll check that until tomorrow.

And all good luck for your examination, Heiko !

According to out local newspaper St.Pauli may have difficulties in
fielding an even average side on Sunday in Mainz:

    Martin Driller
has some stuff in his knee, that will be removed in an operation
tomorrow. He will not be allowed to play again before January.
    Karsten Surmann
has heavy flu. His doctor has ordered him to stay in bed until
    	tomorrow.
    Bernhard Olck
has injured his muscles and can only do light running.
    Leonardo Manzi
has not yet recovered from the head-wound he received last weekend.
    Jan Kocian
will start to train again today.
    Bernd Hollerbach
has had his back 'adjusted' but can't move without pain.
    Dieter Schlindwein
has recovered from his muscle problems, started training last week.

I think a draw in Mainz would be satisfying.

OK folks, my time at DIGITAL is getting near the end, too. I've
cancelled my job and will start a new career at DETECON, a company

While I will keep my 14 months working for DEC in mind with quite
mixed feelings, I always will remember besides lot of nice collegues
this feature of notes conferences. For a strange guy with strange
interests like me (e.g. a incapable football team as St.Pauli, a kind
of music which makes normal people earsick - and for which
"alternative" is a friendlier word) it was a GREAT experience, that
I've found almost anytime some folks to talk to with similar interests.

St. Pauli has another two more players. Hjelm and Jrvinen, both from
Finland. I think they are playing on a loan (right term?) till the end
of the season. Hjelm has already been playin in the Bundesliga.

Anyway, that makes a squad of 26 professionals altogether. Quite a good
indicator for the desperate situation St.Pauli are in.

Last week St.Pauli drew 0-0 at home against FC Homburg, who are a
mediocre side when they're having a good day. They didn't. FC Homburg's
goalie Peter Eich is (BTW) the brother-in-law of Micky HAM::WITT.

    So then. St.Pauli is 18th i.e. a relegation spot. 22:27 goals and 18:26
pts. Next week they'll travel to Hanover (8th). A point would be great.

St.Pauli's amateur team is top of Verbandsliga Hamburg (43:18/27:5).
They can possibly miss promotion to 'Oberliga Nord' due to the fact
that their first team gets relegated to that same league.

Still, there's hope. For the Fins are reported to have made a really
good match on Saturday. Even though the defence is utter cr*p, they
could start scoring now and then.

Seems to me we're stuck in a dead end. The equipe is pumped up with
too many players, which cost lots of money and I don't know whether
the receipts can equalize that (haven't read the Abendblatt for weeks
but I don't think the number of visitors is that large as at the start
    of the season).

Generally, it wouldn't be too bad to go back to Oberliga Nord in that
situation. I prefer to watch my team winning against Holstein Kiel than
    loosing against Unterhaching or Remscheid.

But perhaps this would be the end of it all ? St.Pauli has some
millions of debts, how to avoid the total bankrupt with some 10,000 DM
receipts as an amateur club ?

Hope things won't become that worse than in the late 70's.

however, but on a 1-year-loan for DM 125,000 which manager Jrgen
Whling will pay out of his own pocket.

    Good news, I think.

What was that with the Pauli/1860 Party ? I haven't heard of it, yet.

And, well, actually I'm not soooooo much a Pauli-fan as far as
attending the matches is concerned. I kind of follow them on the
telly and in the Hamburger Morgenpost :-). Also, I don't hate the
Hamburger SV, as every serious Pauli-fan does :-).

All the details about the party!!

There is a biiig friendship between the St. Pauli Fans and
the 1860 fans. So, when St. Pauli played in Munich last
year, the 60 fans arranged a big party for their friends
from Hamburg in one of the big Munich beer halls.

In April, 1860 has to play in Hamburg. And apparently big
preparations are already underway to arrange for an even
bigger party in Hamburg. Since I will be there anyway, I
want to see the game and, of course, go to the big fest.

Bad news of the day is that goalkeeper Andreas Reinke might be off to
Kaiserslautern next season. Odd. He has a valid contract until 1995,
but for 2.Bundesliga only. So if St.Pauli gets promoted, he could go.
Apparently Kaiserslautern has made a promising offer, although Reinke
would then be second man behinf Gerry Ehrmann. I wonder if that makes
sense. Being first man in a second rate team is better than being

But I promise I won't cry, if they don't. Because I think they had a

read in last year's "Kicker Special" (which appeared at the begin of

glorious teams as W.B.A., Lithlilillingolorowowow Rose Magic Team and

As for the red card (or is he suspended for his 7th booking) :

Well there's always next year. I'd like to see 1860, Wolfsburg and

St.Pauli are actually not as good as their league position indicates. I
doubt we could be that succesful in the nexty season. 1860 could. So

St.Pauli is in excellent physical shape now, and if they manage
to take up their great technical and tactical skill from before
the break they look good for promotion.

And, St.Pauli is unbeaten for 14 matches in a row. 8 victories and
6 draws. If only the Lions manage to stay in the Bundesliga!

    Yaeh Heiko,
After a 5-1 drubbing from Dortmund...mind you having seen the
highlights 1860 deserverd a little more out of the game, their
finishing left a little to be desired.

Dortmund will be VERY difficult to stop...they're almost unstoppable
with this Sammer guy ; who must be probably on form the best playmaker
in Europe today...well that's an IMHO...I haven't seen anyone this
    season to contradict this...

    Unbeaten for 15 games.

Next will be away, in Mannheim (who are fourth right now).
    No need to be pessimistic.

    Bundesliga, here we come.

    Yeah, it is 15-in-a-row.

I reckon that now St.Pauli has lost in Mannheim (92nd minute goal),
they should be up for a victory in Kaiserslautern in the Cup.

Bad news is that Hollerbach is injured and will most probably be
unable to play. He has also been sold to Kaiserslautern for
    DM 1,700,000. How nice.

BAYERN MNCHEN AMATEURE - VFL WOLFSBURG
    	1.FC KAISERSLAUTERN - FC ST.PAULI

St.Pauli is the team to follow, obviously.
Wolfsburg are top of 2.Bundesliga, a team with very little
history (just as the city of Wolfsburg). They were promoted to
    2.Bundesliga just 2 or 3 years ago.
Bayern Mnchen Amateure is basically Bayern Mnchen Amateure.
Kaiserslautern is some minor Bundesliga team. Champion 92/93, currently
4th. Should be possible for St.Pauli.

Saw the highlights of FCK v St Pauli last night - do St Pauli usually play
without a defence?! Sorry, but their back four looked half asleep for most of
the goals . . .

    I didn't see it.
Just for the record, their defense is one of the best in 2.Bundesliga.
But I recall they were having lineup problems due to injuries.

Apart from being on a promotion spot again, the news is that 1.FC Kln
    is apparently interested in Prpper.
Now, with Hollerbach going to Kaiserslautern, *I* believe Pauli can't
afford to lose another of their few (read:2) quality players.

    1.FC Nrnberg	- FC St.Pauli	1:1

    	Bhme '76 Szubert 17'

Interestingly, the DSF channel showed an entirely black screen until
halfway through the second half. In the remaining time, St.Pauli had
two good chances to score, but missed - including an astonishing
dive-in header bu Szubert, who apparently miscalculated and buried the
ball right under his chest. The goal was all empty, though. Nrnberg
had a couple of *major* chances but luckily (and thanks to Thomforde)
    only scored once.

So, St.Pauli is still on a promotion spot, but Meppen and Wolfsburg are
both just one point behind with one match in hand.
    I expect the worst.

76.167HBFDT1::SCHARNBERGSenior Kodierwurst - DTN: 711.414Mon May 29 1995 11:5614
    Things are looking good again.

After the 5:0 against Zwickau, St.Pauli is up to 2nd place, with the
best goal difference of all 5 contenders for the last 2 promotion slots
    (taken that Rostock is through).

What can really make you optimistic is the last two remaining matches.
Away to FSV Frankfurt - they're bottom of the league, then at home
against FC Homburg, they're second last of the league.

Now, if Lbeck will also make it, that'll be a real joy for the
underdeveloped (in football terms) north of the republic.

Well, give me a better moment to say goodbye.

St.Pauli back in the Bundesliga and Lbeck promoted to 2.Bundesliga.

It's just sad that I won't be around to bring to you the news of
St.Pauli's and Lbeck's outstanding successes in professional football,
because I have finished studying and will start working in Mnster
starting Monday. (Preuen Mnster is Regionalliga West, I believe. So
no match for Lbeck and St.Pauli).

I really enjoyed noting here, watching Reading go to Wembley was one

OK, so let me take over for Heiko,

St.Pauli got the first win in their first Bundesliga match this season,
defeating the Lions (1860 Mnchen) by 4-2 in Hamburg, now leading the
    table...

Didn't see the game, but it must have been a great party...
maybe some more comments from Margit...

Lbeck lost their first game in the 2.Bundesliga...
