I am a true Raith fan. I attend a game almost every season.
I was at the friendly between Raith and Aberdeen, this being Raith's
final friendly before the start of the season. Aberdeen did not play
any of their stars, and the game finished goalless.
Four days later in their first game of the new season, Raith beat St
Mirren 7-0. Just my luck to pick the wrong game this season!

got his usual reception at Starks Park when he came on near the end.
Next weeks game against Morton should be a cracker, two points from that

Coisty's golden boot.Raith have now played the top five teams and
only dropped one point to Killie. Can Dazzer make the Scotland squad
and go back to his old stomping ground ,a Dalzeil,Mccoist

I thought I would go to a game yesterday and i picked this one..
Raith 2 Kilmarnock 0
If this is the best Kilmarnock can provide at such an important time
during their fight for promotion then they will stay down. The first
half up until Brewsters first goal was quite evenly contested and also
quite tough. However after the rovers first goal which was finished
well after the ball had taken a lucky deflection when Nicol tried to
shoot there was never any way back for Killie.
After the break Kilmarnock played well for about the first ten minutes
and looked to be starting to control the game. Guess who popped up and
killed the game....Dazza with his 30th goal this season ...500 richer
but with a sore head :^). The Killie defence seemed to lack fight and
Dazza shrugged off two players to lift the ball over the kepper into
the net. Rovers controlled the remainder of the game and now must be
certainties for the championship and premier league football next
season. As for Killie they had better hope that Raith beat Dunfermline
next week for them to have any chance of promotion. With Killie now
five points behind Dunfermline and twelve behind Raith it looks like
an impossible task.
Good luck the Fife teams !!

| The last note probably sums it up well. The game was pretty even to
begin with but the heads went down too quickly. The run of bad results
seemed to weigh heavily on the troops and there was a sense of "here we
go again" about it all. In saying that if Killie had got a goal to make
it 1 each or if McCluskey had connected with the header at 0-0 it could
have been a different story. Oh well...let's look forward to
somerset,kilbowie,cappielow again next season.

A wee report..
In the first half Raith were outplayed by a much more determined
Dunfermline side. They were first to every ball and had the Rovers
looking like a side nearer the bottom of the division instead of
a championship side. Dunfermline should have been two up before the
break and Rovers should have been well out of it.
To the second half.... Again Dunfermline started lookijng like the more
likely team to win. However after the first 5 minutes of the 2nd half
Rovers started to come into their own. They started to put pressure on
a Dunfermline side who after all the early signs of going to win the
game stangely drifted out of sight. Jimmys first goal was a bit of a
fluke going straight in from the corner kick and was a nightmare for
the Pars defence. The Dunfermline heads went down and as if to confirm
that they were going to win this division in style Nichol scored a
good second goal..lobbing the keeper after a terrific pass infield.
Dunfermline did look a much better side than Kilmarnock and should take
both points when the sides meet next week and then join Raith for
promotion.
"Dancing in the streets of Raith " as someone once said might just well
come true this season.

I wasn't at the game because I was helping out my old shift on

I will try to get hold of some info on the history of Raith Rovers.
I don't think the list of trophies will take too long to type in 8-)
Raith Rovers play in Kirkcaldy, and they are the only senior team
in Kirkcaldy. They play at Stark's Park at the western edge of the
town. The capacity is about 8500.
They are currently managed by Jimmy Nicoll, the ex-Northern
Ireland internationalist.
They play Partick Thistle tonight in the league cup. I think its
at home, so another testing game for them. The team photo was in
today's Daily Record/Ranger/Rebel (depending on your viewpoint)

BTW, Kirkcaldy is in Fife, on the shores of the River Forth facing
across to Edinburgh/Leith. It was famous for its linoleum industry at
one point and was known as a smelly place. There is still one plant
manufacturing linoleum, but the smell is now quite localised.

Sorry to interrupt the flow there, Andy, but I have came up with some
info for the overseas branches of the RR fan club.
It seems that the team has never won the League Cup or Scottish Cup.
Nor have they ever won the top league. However, I do have some league
info, although my records only go back to 1921.
1925/6 Relegated to Div 2 with Clydebank
1926/7 Promoted to Div 1 with Div 2 Champions Bo'ness (Yes, THAT Bo'ness)
1928/9 Relegated to Div 2 with Third Lanark
1937/8 Promoted to Div 1 as Div 2 Champions, with Albion Rovers
1938/9 Relegated to Div 2 with Queen's Park
1948/9 Div 2 Champions, promoted with Stirling Albion
1962/3 Relegated along with Clyde
1966/7 Promoted with Morton
1969/70 Relegated with Partick Thistle
League was reconstructed in 74/5 into Premier/First/Second
1975/6 Promoted to First Div
1976/7 Relegated to Second Div
1977/8 Promoted to First Div
1983/4 Relegated to Second Div
1986/7 Promoted to First Div
1992/3 First Div Champions
Stark's Park has a capacity of 8200. The record crowd was 31306,
against Hearts in 1953, presumably a Cup-tie, as they were in different
leagues at the time.
The Rovers other claim to fame is that they sold Jim Baxter to Glasgow
Rangers.
Bye for now,

Sid,
You know that you were lucky to get a point from this one.
Carson, the Rovers keeper, threw the ball at Robbo's feet for some
reason, and allowed him to place it into the empty net. Then , near the
end, Dalziel decided to try to score by deflecting it off a passing
crow, only to find that the crow could not header a ball too well.

Today's score:-
Raith Rovers 2 Partick Thistle 2
An optimist would say that being 3 points behind Rangers is no shame.
However, we need more than this. Losing away from home and drawing at
Kirkcaldy would leave us with only 22 points at the end of the season,
and this would mean relegation. Jimmy Nicoll has said that he wants to
sign another couple of front men, and I think he will have to do it
sooner rather than later. In saying that, I don't have any details yet
of today's match, so perhaps there is room for optimism in this result.

| Raith Rovers 1 (Nicoll -last kick of the ball)
Dundee United 1 (McInally- 5)
It was a lovely day for watching football at Kirkcaldy
yesterday. The afternoon sun was shining and there was
no wind. A victory for Rovers would have made it a
perfect day. However, after 5 minutes it was Dundee
United who scored. A lovely shot by Jim McInally from
inside the box which gave Carson no chance. This knocked
the stuffing out of Rovers for a while, but for the last
20 minutes of the first half they were right back in the
match, and looked like they would score any minute. It
was not to be though and the break knocked them off
their rythmn for a spell in the second half. Neither
team looked like scoring, though, and half way through
the second half, the Raith began to take control again.
Dair had a great shot which came off the underside of
the bar, but bounced back into play and was cleared.
Time was beginning to run out, but still Rovers battled
away. Then the ball broke out of the United penalty area
to find Jimmy Nicoll unmarked about 25 yards out. He had
plenty of time to pick his spot, and the one he chose
was high up to the keeper's left. A well deserved
equaliser with the last kick of the ball. Even Ivan
Golac, the United manager, admitted that Rovers deserved
a share of the points, although he was disappointed that
his defence lost the late goal.
Next week it's Celtic at Kirkcaldy, and anything could
happen. I have my stand ticket (9) and will enter my
unbiased report of that one next Sunday night.

Well, John, at least my allegiances to teams relates to football.
I would stand by my view of last week's goal, although I was holding a
radio to my ear at the time, enjoying one half of the old Firm getting
gubbed and the other half struggling to draw with the team at the bottom
of the league. I was also sitting in the stand in line with the 18 yard
line at the other end, and there was a pillar in the road! I saw it hit
the net though - that was the best bit.
Raith Rovers 1 Celtic 4
A great goal by Raith, Celtic got lucky four times. Well OK, maybe not.
I had hoped that Celtic were on sufficient of an off day for Raith to
snatch something from this game. Their play was very patchy, but Raith
could not capitalise on this. The four Celtic goals were taken very
well, particularly the third (I think) which was a great move. Raith
are playing very well in midfield at the moment, but are suffering
badly from defensive lapses and lack of clinical finishing. I hope we
don't fall too far behind before it all comes together.
To the majority of Celtic fans who did not join in singing the IRA
songs, I would like to apologise for the three car loads of RR
supporters who decided that they were "Billy Boys". The staggering
Celtic fan who appeared in front of the Raith supporters after the
first goal and challenged them all to fight, missed quite a good match.
Well, its Dundee at Dundee next week in a four pointer. This could be
our first Premier win. I have a programme from the Celtic match and I
still have the programme from the Dundee United match if anyone wants
them - free to a good home, anywhere.
Cheers

Raith anihilated Kilmarnock 2-2!
Raith were 2 up by half time, and could have had a third. Out they came
for the second half, and missed another 3 golden chances. Could easily
have been 6-0, and the Raith fans were deliriously singing the Johnny
Munro song. Then, well, it's a funny old game. Killie scored twice, and
the song changed to Paper Roses. Our first home victory of the season
has to wait till next week against the Hearts.
Seriously though, if any of these chances had been converted to a third
goal, then I'm sure Killie would not have had the heart to make a
comeback. I thoroughly enjoyed the game though, which had a nice edge
to it in the chanting between the fans. Killie are the only Premier
side that Raith played in the league last year (in Div One), so the
fans have recent rivalries to shout about.

Another great performance by The Raith saw them earn a point at Ibrox
and thus make it 2 points out of 4 against the mighty Rangers!
However, things are still tight at the foot of the table, and the wrong
combination of results next Saturday could see the team going to the
bottom of the league. Raith entertain leaders Aberdeen at Kirkcaldy,
and if the Rovers were to lose and if Dundee were to beat St Johnstone
then that would leave us bottom on goal difference. I feel though that
the entertaining brand of soccer played by the Fifers will prove to be
too much for an Aberdeen team which is yet to prove that they are any
better than they have been over the past few seasons.
My confident prediction is Raith Rovers 2 Aberdeen 1.

An important victory on Saturday at Tynecastle, with Raith winning 1-0
over a Hearts team that are now beginning to take the media pressure
away from Celtic.
It was important because it started a three match run that could make

against St Johnstone and Partick Thistle, both at Kirkcaldy, and
victories could take us out of the relegation zone.

Raith have not played a match since the Hearts game mentioned in the
previous note, due to ground conditions at Kirkcaldy and also away from

The draw for the Scottish Cup gave the team a home tie against Brechin,
who are at the bottom of Division One. Dare I say that this should mean
that we will progress to the next round, but you may recall that we
were knocked out of the League Cup by Arbroath earlier in the season!
Another notable point is that the team are well out in front in the
Sunday Post Fair Play league, which is based on fouls, bookings and
sendings-off. (Teams with the least of these are at the top!) Well done
the lads, and if the weather continues to see games postponed, we
should stay top of the league for a long time.

Well, following the midweek defeat by Partick Thistle (0-1), the team
lost by 2 goals to nil at the hands of Dundee United. This must rank as
the worst display of the season by the team, and although we hit the
bar late on, we never really threatened the United goal. Former Rover's
player Craig Brewster scored the 2 goals for United. The first was a
speculative effort from 25 yards that Thomson should have saved, but he
allowed it to sneak in at his right hand post. The second was a hard
drive from the edge of the box after Shaun Dennis had slipped while
trying to clear, and succeeded only in setting it up for Brewster.
Rovers at times managed to string together some nice football, but
as I have said, they never really put pressure on the United goal.
We play St Johnstone on Wednesday, and Dundee next Saturday. We
must be looking for the four points from these two matches to have any
chance of staying up.

Well, after a 4-0 defeat at Aberdeen last week, it looked rather like a
lost cause for the Cup this week. However, although we lost 1-0 we came
away from the match with a lot of credit. Raith missed a couple of
chances in the first half that may have changed the outcome if they had
gone in.
It took Aberdeen until the 81st minute to score, just when it
looked like we might get a replay in Kirkcaldy.
Another headline this week was Jimmy Nichol staying at Stark's Park
rather than going to the Northern Ireland job. The reason (incredibly)
was that the NI FA could not match Jimmy's salary at Raith Rovers.
Apparently he is on about 70,000 a year at Kirkcaldy and the NI
contract was 110,000 over 2 years. The job went to Brian Hamilton who
was currently unemployed.

Saturday's score :- Raith Rovers 1 Rangers 2
Raith Rovers totally outclassed Rangers at Kirkcaldy, but ended up
losing by 2 goals to 1 when Coyle decided that the game was too one
sided and sent an inch perfect pass to Ian Ferguson on the edge of the
box, from where he duly scored. Gordon Durie then hit the ball with his
foot while diving for another penalty claim and it ended up in the back
of the net. All this happened late on in the second half, after Rovers
had taken a well deserved first half lead when Crawford fooled Goram
with a splendid tap over his head for a goal that really deserved to
count as two.
The kick off had been held back for a while until the Rangers team
could be found. It turned out that they thought they were playing at
home, and were found on Kirkcaldy beach. 8-)) Walter Smith admitted
after the game that Rangers were lucky to get both points, and his only
excuse was that they were not used to playing on grass.

Raith Rovers were expelled from Scottish football on Tuesday afternoon,
following the non-appearance of John McStay at the Duncan Ferguson
tribunal earlier that day.
The expulsion will run until McStay and Rovers appear at the tribunal
which is rescheduled for Thursday at 1pm. If they don't appear,
although the appearance is now almost certain, then Rovers last game of
the season against Dundee United on Saturday will be cancelled. This
would mean that two United players would be unable to serve a

You must be a sad man if that's true. I recently visited Stranraer
during a golfing weekend, if I never went back to the place that would
be too soon. Pubs are crap, birds are bears, fisticuffs with bottles
the order of the day.

Raith 3....Kiliie 2.
Rovers were firing on all cylinders and should have won by a wider
margin, some good keeping by Geddes kept the score down.Rovers new
young signing in central defence(Dave Narey)showed well,looks a good
prospect for the future.I think it will take the Killie defence a few
days to get themselves re-orientated as the Raith front line were
turning them inside out.A great game and a great atmosphere.

Did I not tell you about them.......
Goal 1 was an overhead kick from Dazza across the six yard line which
totally foxed the Killie defence and Cameron blasted into the net past a
helpless Geddes.
Goal 2 was a header across goal from big Ally,Cameron scored with an
overhead kick past a helpless Geddes.
Goal3 was a dlightfully flighted free kick from that youngster Narey,
Ally headflicked it on and Cameron chipped the ball over a despairing
dive from a helpless Geddes.

Ally had a really good game,he was winning everything in the air
both in attack and defence. He also had a cracking left foot drive to
the bottom left,or was it right, hand corner of the net but Geddes saved
well. It's hard to say how they took their thrusting as they got off the
pitch in a hurry at the final whistle..

| A great game with Raith dominating the first half, two well worked goals
in this period,a powerful header from big Sean from about 6yds and a
great shot from Ally G.into(yes you guessed it Archie)the top left hand
corner of the net.
Second half started with all out attack from Saints and in the 50th min
O'Neil scored thro' a ruck of players in the penalty box.Saints
continued to press but were getting no change from the Raith defence.
A move started by Raith's Lennon in his own half saw him link with
McAnespie(i think)who played a one-two with Lennon which put him clear
on a one-on-one with Rhodes. The wee man kept his head, strolled into the
penalty box and placed the ball in the bottom corner,(83min).Saints
heads went down and Raith created a few more chances up to the final
whistle.
Final score

After last night, it's probably McCluskey who's interested in the
Rovers. (Haven't heard the rumour)
Coca Cola Cup semi Final
Raith Rovers 1 - 1 Airdrie
The Rovers won 5-4 on penalties.
Rovers went ahead in the first half when Graham scored a deserved goal.
Raith were in control and looked to be ready to score more when a long
Airdrie clearance saw Thomson (goalkeeper) come out of his box to
intercept. As he was retreating, however, he decided that it was time
to catch it but was still a foot or two outside the area. The ref saw
this as deliberate hand ball and ordered him off. 17-year-old Brian
Potter came on as substitute goalkeeper and performed well, but had no
chance with the Airdrie equaliser which was a shot from 25 yards from
Cooper. Things looked bad at this stage, but the Rovers held out and
during the extra time period, looked as likely to score as Airdrie.
However, there was no more scoring and it went to penalties. Shaun
Dennis scored the first one for Raith and was booked immediately for
making rude signs to the Airdrie fans behind the goals. Young Potter
had been unlucky not to save a couple of the Airdrie efforts, but
managed to block the last one for Raith to win 5-4.
After making this match - their first Semi Final for 30 years -
the Rovers must now wait till tonight to see who they will play in
their first Final for 45 years. If Celtic win, the Final will be at
Ibrox - if Aberdeen win, it will be at Hampden, on Sunday November
27th. A dramatic night, and whoever makes the Final, they should not
underestimate the Rovers.

Nicholl enjoyed success as a right-back with Manchester United, Rangers and

But he says nothing can compare to guiding Raith into Europe after an
incredible 6-5 penalty shoot-out win following a 2-2 extra-time draw.
Nicholl said: "I couldn't speak at the end because of the emotion of it. At
Rangers and Manchester United you are a cog in a wheel.
"This is the pinnacle of my career, no doubt about that. I get so much
pleasure out of bringing on young lads and giving people like Gordon Dalziel and
David Narey succes at a late stage."
Nicholl had said before the final that a UEFA Cup place was laughable. He had
joked that AC Milan manager Fabio Capello would be looking up an atlas for
Raith.
Tonight, he said: "Does Capello speak Irish? It is laughable, but we will
take stock in the next few days."
Stevie Crawford had put Raith ahead before Andy Walker equalised and then,
six minutes from time, Charlie Nicholas had Celtic in front before skipper
Dalziel forced extra-time.
Victory earned the first division outsiders a place in Europe next season --
and extended Celtic's trophy-less run to five years.
Shattered Celts boss Tommy Burns said: "I'll be brief. I don't think anyone
can imagine our disappointment.
"But cup-finals are all about winners, so we will leave what is to be said to
Raith."
Raith 'keeper Scott Thomon, who was sent-off in the semi-final against
Airdrie, said of his save from McStay: "I picked a side and thankfully that is
where it went.
"I actually thought the referee might order a re-take because it seemed there
was a lull before everyone came running towards me.
"I felt sorry for Paul but I didn't have a chance to speak to him -- it's a
hard way to loses a final.
"Now I will need a one-year passport for Europe."

Now that the furore has died down a shade and I can see clearly, here
is the story that you have been waiting for.
It all started on the sunny Sunday morning of the 27th Nov 1994.
Three lads decked out in the colours of Raith Rovers waiting for the
bus that would take them first to Linlithgow to pick up some temporary
support for Raith, then onward to Glasgow and Ibrox to challenge Celtic
for the Coca-Cola cup.On arriving at Linlithgow a small refreshment
was taken(the passing round of the strawberry flavoured MD 20/20,
the vodka and Irn-Bru cocktail and the usual cans of Millar).Boarding
the bus at 12noon we headed to our destiny. On the journey many songs
were sung exhaulting the Raith and insulting Archie Millar(was he there?)
The excitment on the bus rose as we neared the slip road to Govan.
As we turned the corner to Edmiston road to be dropped off at
the Rangers supporters club we bumped into JJ who immediately received
a torrant of abuse, anyway into the Rangers club where we were warmly
received. The club was alive with Rovers supporters, many drinks were
drunk and many lively songs of the Rovers were sung.We left the club
as the bingo was about to start, exiting the club into a throng of
Celtic supporters we made our intrepid way to the Govan stand at Ibrox.
On entering the ground the atmosphere was electric, the heart pounding
harder and harder as kick off time approached, and there they were the
teams out on the pitch.
The game gets under way and inside the first 2mins Steve Crawford
bursts thro three Celtic defenders and sprints towards the penalty only
to be brought down by Mowbray(he should have at least been booked as
he was last man).Raith were well on top driving forward through the
midfield when they could. In 18mins Colin Cameron cuts inside Galloway
to the edge of the box and fires in a shot that scrapes the bar.We only
had to wait another minute as Celtic were forced to concede a corner.
Broddle takes the corner to an unmarked Crawford who takes the ball
past a half takle from McNally and fires in a shot which beats Marshall
and nestles in the corner of the net(Shep misses this marvellous goal as
he had to go to the wee boys room). The Govan stand errupted with the shout
of GOAL!!!!!!,the RRFCSQF support are Jumping and running up and down
row X with great joy, what a start. After the goal Celtic came more into the
game and started to pressurise the Raith defence. After constant Celtic
pressure which had Boyd hitting the post they managed to breakthrough.
A cross was swung over,Galloway headed back across goal to an unmarked
Walker who dived to head it into the net in the 32nd minute. The Raith
defence held the Celtic at bay until halftime. After a much needed visit
to the toilet and something to eat the RRFCSQF support eagerly await
the start of the second half. The second half gets under way with Celtic
pressing hard but not getting much leeway inside the box. After being
camped in the Raith half for about 25mins Raith started to get a few
breaks up to the Celtic end.But Celtic manage to get a lucky break in
the 83rd min which had a great flick on from Nicholas to Walker who
turned and shot from the edge of the box,the ball cannons off the post
straight to the onrushing Nicholas who nips in front of the Broddle to
side foot it into the net, what a disaster for Rovers who were defending
brilliantly.Celtic thought they had won the cup BUT they did not bank
on Raiths spirit as in the 87th min the ball goes from Sinclair to Dair
on the right,he cuts inside Boyd, past another defender and sends in a
fierce shot which dips just before it reaches the keeeper at knee height.
Marshall could only palm it to ground, the ball bounces up to head height
and whos there??? Dalziel heads the ball into the empty Celtic net sending
the Raith fans into frenzied excitement,2 - 2 and 3mins to go.Gussets army
go wild!!!!!!Geordie Munro is being sung with great passion. The game goes
to extra time....
Celtic heads are down as it's now Raiths turn to exert some pressure,no
further goals in extra time which saw Raith fire in more shots in that
half hour than in the second half of normal time. The game is now into
a penalty shoot-out.Raith are first up ,the penalty shoot goes 1-0,1-1
2-1,2-2,3-2,(exciting this init),3-3,4-3,4-4,5-4,Galloway steps up..shoots
Thomson gets a hand to it...but the ball crawls into the net,5-5,sudden
death now.Rowbotham takes Raiths and scores with ease,up comes the Celtic
captain.....he shoots,Thomson dives low to his right and saves....YES!!!!
The Raith fans are ecstatic....Celtic just cannot believe it....
RRFCSQF supporters are delerious with joy....ROVERS...ROVER....ROVERS..
Raith win the Coca-Cola cup, their first national trophy in the clubs
history.Dancing in the streets of Raith all night.... what a game...

Please sing as loud as you can to the tune of the wild rover.

Now they've spent all day Monday on Greetin' and tears,

And once more in Europe, the Celts 'll no' play

Now they've spent all day Monday on Greetin' and tears.
And if you ask them who missed it ?
They'll answer McStay.
And once more in Europe, the Tims'll no' play.
And its no nay never,
no nay never no more,
Will they say "we'll beat Rovers",
no never no More.
Now they were in a Final, which Tims used to frequent,
But they couldn't play at Hampden, cos that's where they rent.
So they played it at Ibrox,
A ground ever so braw,
And just like THE Rangers,Raith f****ed them an' aw'.
And it's......etc
T'was the Tims' first final, for many a year,
And their fans celebrated, with whisky and beer.
But asked if they won it ?
They answered us,nay.
And Prods everywhere drank a toast to Mcstay.
And it's....etc

Dundee -v- Raith Rovers 18th February
We play Ayr in the league on Saturday, and I'd take the Rovers to win

Unlike Archie I was at the game,I must admit we were terrible, but
Stranraer have developed some dirty tackling asc their season has gone
on.It's no wonder they get players sent off all the time, they should
have had 3 sent off before half time.Jimmy changed the side to much
IMO,he made 5 changes to the side that were beayen in the cup.
Still,8 games tp go.....it's gonna be tight...

I have seen the guy playing during a reserve game at Methil, he was
something else. He stuck out like a sore thumb. Rovers had 5 first team
regulars playing in that game. The lad controlled the game.
JC,
Suggesting that he would not be playing in the first division if he
had any talent is just plain crap. Where do you think players play
their football. Its not just in the top division.
I would also say that their are probably some better players playing in
the first division than are at some top ten teams like Partick and
Falkirk.

If the Pars beat Ardrie and Raith win at Perth it will all

Sean,
The general consensus of opinion around here, is that the sheep are
going down, and in last place !
I think it's a battle between either Hearts, Partick or Dundee United
for the play-off spot.
I'd fancy the Pars chances against either of these sides in a
play-off situation.
In saying all that, my team aren't exactly out of the woods yet
either !!!
A victory on Saturday against the small huns from Falkirk should
remedy that though.......I hope !!

Well....another 3 points in the bag, although this one was a bit of a
nail biter.St Johnstone had the better of the first half with shots at
goal few and far between. The second half was a real end to end affair,
the Raith equaliser was a peach of an own goal a curling volley into
the top left hand corner of the net.Main produced three brilliant
second half saves in the space of 5mins to keep Raith at bay,I noticed
they didn't show these in Scotsport, looked like heading for a draw, when
through ball reached Crawford 30 yds out he raced in on goal and
cheekily knocked it between the advancing Mains legs for the winner.
Stevie got booked for his celebrations after scoring the winner.
With Dundee getting beat a win at home to Dunfermline on Saturday
will see us champions........

74.226 | My last note...8-( | KIRKTN::AMILLAR | It's not long now.. | Sat Jun 17 1995 21:45 | 20 |

The end is approaching for Digital, South Queensferry, but I hope that
football lovers all over the world will follow the fortunes of Jimmy
Nichol's team as they go forward into another record breaking season.
By this time next year we can be celebrating the retention of the
Coco-Cola Cup, the winning of the Scottish Premier Division, and the
the winning of both the Scottish Cup and the UEFA Cup. It would
probably be beyond the chaps to win the Fife Cup as well, but you never
know.
By the time we come back on shift, we may have been unplugged from the
system, so I wish everyone who has been writing or reading in this
conference all the best for their own team for the forthcoming season
and beyond. watch out for me in the highlights of the games from
Stark's Park. I'm the young chap with the black hair.
All the best

Thanks JC, ya wee B*****d.
Actually, as a football fan, I am in possession of a couple of tickets
for the East Fife -v- Manchester United match on 13th August. But I am
only there on a spying mission for St Jimmy, in case we draw United in
the second round of the UEFA cup.
(An old one to finish on)
I remember the Hearts supporters being banned when they last played in
Europe, because on the way home from the away leg...
....they tore the sails down..8-)))

Archie,
Where did you get them there tickets..
My brother in law could only get a hold of 38. He was looking for
forty. Imagine..the boy Giggs playing amongst Fife's elite on a park
that isn't fit for rugby. Roll on August.

Andy,
I went to Bayview on Wednesday morning and the lassie there said
she had plenty left, but they had made it that you could buy any number
of them whereas they had previously been restricted to a max of 5.
These are East Terrace tickets, by the way, the stand was already sold
out.

Rovers make it into the next round of the EUFA cup after drawing
2-2 with a team from the Faeroe Islands whose name I can not remember
and if I could remember it I certainly couldn't spell it. After winning
4-0 from the first leg they go through 6-2 on aggregrate.
Unfortunately Motherwell are out though. Despite winning 2-0 away
against some Finnish team they lost their home leg 1-3 so go out on
away goals. What a bunch of plonkers.

| Raith have a hell of a lot to gain from this match and Bayern have a
hell of a lot to lose. Unfortunately for Raith they are having to play
the match at the Hibbees ground 'cos their own is too small. I really
think that Raith can win this leg, but I'm not sure about the tie.

That's right, but I don't think that Raith is strong enough to beat
Bayern. Raith will fight from the beginning of the match without a
pause but Bayern have the better technician players.
My serious prediction for tonight: 0-2 or 1-2

| I saw just over half of the game - Raith put on a great show for their fans,
throwing everthing at Bayern in the second half. But they only got 1 shot on
target - a close-in header from a quickly-taken freekick which the keeper did
well to push away. Two goals by Klinsmann - the first early on, after he was
quickest to react to a flick-on and lifted it over the keeper as he came out;
the second just after intense Raith pressure was a tap-in after Zickler walked
through the defence.

A punter's sweating on the result of tonight's Scottish cup clash
between Raith and Airdrie.
The mystery fan, from Bournemouth, stands to rake in nearly
300-thousand pounds, if Raith win.
He staked just ten pounds on a 13-game accumulator.

Not even he could save Bourenmouth... they owe 4 million...
Nice beach in Bourenmouth.... it was certainly a hit with the Leeds
fans when last visited.
Cheers,

Ex-Rovers manager Jimmy Nicholl has been fired as Milwall manager....
...along with 12 players who have been transfer listed. Sad day for
Nicholl, he seemed to be a very good manager at Rovers, did wonders
with very little, especially bringing in young talent.
anyone know if the ex-Raith players he took down there are part of the
12 who are now up for grabs ?

| Trevor,
According to BBC Scotland last week the Scots that Nicholl brought with
him from Raith were getting a lot of the blame from the fans. I always
thought that Nicholl's move to Millwall was a bad one. Millwall are a
small club with big dreams but bugger all chance of realising them....
Sack the board....(where have I heard that before?...)
Ray....

Thanks Ray....hey was Stevie Crawford one of them ? Haven't read owt
about him for ages....saw him play about a dozen times, impressed me
back then.

Just read that Steve Crawford and Jason Dair may be back with Rovers,
they are on the list and Millwall have NOT paid the transfer money due
to Raith...10M squiddlies in debt apparently. No money either yet for
Dave Sinclair...but he's done a naughty move and signed for Dundee Utd.
This sounds illegal....how can Millwall sell a player they didn't
actually pay for ? Rovers are looking at the legal stuff already. The
law and footie and almost synonomous these days.....

Rover sacked manager Iain Munro....and assistant Jimmy Nichol refuses
the offer to step in. He united with Munro in a stance against the
incumbent dictator....John Penman....who seems to be taking the club to
the sh*tter. Nichol obviously decided he wouldn't work for the
directors at Starks Park after their treatment of Munro....and the fact
that they are a pretty useless bunch also.
Sad to see the good days leaving Starks....didn't last long..
