Well as none of the other SQF lads have 'found' us yet, looks like I'll be
putting in the first match report of the new Scottish season.
On Saturday we played Hearts at home. Obviously, as with everyone else in this
conference, I went along full of much hope. We missed the first five minutes,
as we always do, and got in to find our beloved team 0-1 down. We looked to be
playing quite well though and I thought it wouldn't be long until we pulled
the scores level again. Soon, a penalty was given and along pops the much
recently praised Ian McCall for Dunfermline.......to coolly blast the ball
against the bar and almost back to the centre circle. What a waste!
Not so long after that a superb ball through and some good control on the move
saw Kozma with only Smith to beat, and again he goes for glory and blasts it
way over the bar from about five yards, rather than a simple tap that, may not
have looked as glorious but at least would have effective.
Soon after that the inevitable happened, a Hearts player was sent off for an
absolutely horrendous foul on McCall. Then almost just as inevitable, Hearts
scored a second. And I hate to admit it but it was a great goal by John
Robertson.
The second half went on the way of the first with The Pars having much more of
the pressure, and Hearts doing a lot more kicking....of our players. I really
hope this isn't the way Joe Jordan has taught his players to play footie.
With the end looking a likely 0-2 defeat up popped Farningham to score an
absolute cracker from about 25 yards. Our hopes were once again raised but try
as we did we could not put the ball in the net again.
All in all, a decent enough performance with what was a pretty unfortunate
scoreline. We now get the opportunity to make up for that when we take on
somebody called Celtic tonight at East End Park. First two points of the season
for us...............:-)

Well, another defeat at the hands of our old enemies Celtic on Tuesday night.
I know most of the papers said that Celtic were on top for most of the game but
I feel I give a more biased opinion than them and things looked well level up
until we got a defender sent off for deliberately handling the ball. That then
left probably the worst full back in football today exposed just a touch and
Celtic took good advantage of this and slipped another two past us to end the
score at 1-3.
One consilation was the absolutely superb goal from Ian McCall. He has got
sooooooo much skill it is unreal, but he is just sooooo damn lazy. I believe
he likes the odd beer or two, and thats only during the game....
All in all I really think we have a not too bad a side this year...... apart
from our central defence, and possibly our managers ideas on substitutions...
Who is this defender that is even worse than Anton Rogan? A young chap who has
come through the youth ranks called Mark Haro. I think the only reason he gets
a game is that his throw ins our outrageous. He throws it further than some
people can kick it, and this creates quite a few chances for us...
I may well keep a low profile for the next couple of weeks as our next two
games are Aberdeen and Rangers, both away. I say we'll only lose 5 goals over
the two games.....I'm still optimistic see...:-)
Tommy.
ps. Steve, I bet a few people are hoping I keep the secret of the new location
of this notes file. Well, for a small fee I might just do that. Send your

59.4 | Pars v Dons reserves 17/8/91 | KURMA::EWOOTTON | | Sat Aug 17 1991 23:17 | 23 |
| Being night shift tonight (17/8/91) I was unable to make the trip to
Aberdeen so off I went to East End Park to watch the reserves.
The Pars got off to a bad start by going down a goal after 7 minutes
but with Steady Eddie playing centre forward and obviously trying for a
first team place he scored from a Lang through ball which he put in the
net after 13 minutes .
After a gutsy first half performance the pars went in 3-1 up Drizik
scored one and I'm uncertain as to the scorer of the third, it may have
been Paul O'Brien.
A dubious hand ball in the penalty area reduced the goal difference to
one when the Dons centre forward converted the spot kick.
A dreadful defence allowed the Dons to equalise. And that was the score
as I left the park with 2 minutes to go. The Pars did have a last ditch
effort just as I was leaving Barkley forcing Watts to bring off a
superb reflex save.
I'm afraid that Drizik has about as much chance of making it in
Scottish premier football as I have of taking over from Ken Olsen !!!!
I'm off to the Alloa match on Tuesday night and can only hope we don't
blow it.

If only we could take the season back three weeks and start again, maybe ye
old Pars would stay awake longer second time round and gather more than the
poxy 1 point we've managed to scrape so far.
Yes you've guessed it, another stunning performance on Saturday at home to
the then second bottom placed Airdrie. Surely two points, our first win,
in the bag.
How wrong can you be, we soon find ourselves two goals down and looking like
we are going to lose quite a few more. A scrappy goal right on half time raises
all our hopes for the second half....you think we would have known better eh!
A very scrappy second half with The PArs just managing to keep Airdrie from
scoring again. Still just one point from seven games, and only two goals scored.
It wouldn't be too bad if it looked like anybody cared, but when your are 2-1
down at home to a lowly placed team you would expect someone on the coaching
staff, eg the manager, to show some concern and try and shake the players up,
rather than a bench full of people sitting with their arms crossed looking
as though they are more concerned with organising the next night out than
winning a game of footie.
I heard a very weird rumour today that Billy McNeill is starting to be linked
with Dunfermline. Orville the Duck would be able to inject more life into
the team than Iain Munro seems capable of doing right now.....
One glimmer of hope remains though....we are only two games away from
qualifying for Europe.....hahaha!!!

So the board got rid of Munro then. Must have heard my moaning in this
conference yesterday morning....
I must admit I was trifle surprised when I heard who they were after, Alex
Totten - the current St Johnstone manager. He seems to be well and truly
settled in at Perth and lets face it, the outside look of their setup is
just a wee bit better looking than ours...and I don't just mean the ground.
At least it looks as thoug they are showing ambition. Who knows, I might even
go to another league match and forget that ban I gave myself after last
weekends dismal display.

So here we are, with probably the worst team I think we have had in MANY years
and we are in the Skol cup final.
I cannot deny that we were just a touch fortunate last night to have edged
Airdrie out after a penalty shoot out, but thats the way it goes eh chaps.
Oh sorry, for those who haven't managed to find out yet, Dunfermline beat
Airdrie last night after a penalty shoot out. The game finished 1-1 after
extra time, but The Pars were a bit lucky to have been awarded a very soft
penalty with two minutes to go.
The penalty shoot out was tense as ever, with Andy Rhodes who played another
blinder, trying so hard to give our outfield players something to go for. But
every time he saved one, our they missed, our outfield players go and miss too.
Andy must really wonder what the **** he is doing at our club...but thats
another story. Anyway, the final two kicks, first for Airdrie, went to John
Watson, an ex-Dunfermline player. Rhodes stood his ground and blocked the shot.
Next came Johns close buddy and business partner Norrie McCathie for The Pars.
Wham, straight in the back of the net and "Here we come the final...."
Bring on the Hibees...:-)

certainly shown the rest of the country just how valuable a player he
is.
My gut feeling is that after the cup final on 27th October he will be
on his way to a big club back down in England pos. Everton, Chelsea has
been mentioned and I rate him a far better keeper than Chris Woods and
therefor would be expecting over 1m for him. Some profit for a 70,000
investment.

| You can't take anything away from the Hibee's last night they out
played Rangers in ever area.
But it appears that all media / TV personnel have written The PARS's
off as potential cup winners.
I believe that last nights Hibernian team was their first choice. Well
concidering we were without Kozma (playing in Russia) O'Boyle (injured)
and with Robertson still not fully match fit I feel that Hibs are in
for one hell of a shock if they digest everything that they hear and
read.
I think I'll visit the bookies and find out what the odds are against
the Pars winning the treble, the UEFA cup,the First division runners up,
and the Fife cup.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jocky Scott has got a month to get the team beleaving in themselves
again and that starts this weekend aginst St Mirren.
Someone mentioned that Sharpe has been connected with Luton, after
Tuesdays game I can only assume that it is Luton AIRPORT and not the
football team. He was drossssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

So, after last weeks 'scraping' into the Skol Cup final it was back down to
the serious business of league duty. And they haven't forgotten how to do
that now have they. Gubbed 4-1 at home by second bottom St. Mirren...after
taking an early lead. Jocky Scott (our new manager) has certainly got a task
on his hands here.Fortunately I missed the game due to a wee weekend break
away in sunny Reading, and am I glad. It has only just turned October and
already we look certainties for the drop. How depressing....
The only bright note we have so far is the lucky breaks we have had on the
way to the Skol Cup final. What do you lot out there think about Airdrie
bringing in their lawyers and trying to get the final postponed and the semi
replayed...and all because of a bad refereeing decision. And as for sueing
Syme (the ref in charge) for loss of earnings....
If they can't accept a refs decision then they shouldn't be in the game. Do
you think they would have said "Oh no, we don't want it" if the ref had gave
that very same decision to them? Would they ****. Every team gets bad decisions
against them, just mention Maradona to England supporters, but that is part
and parcel of the game. I know I wouldn't have been happy if something like
that had went against us but you've got to take these things on the chin.
Chuck 'em out of the league for bad sportmanship thats what I say....

| Hi Pars,
If a mere Falkirk Supporter can add something to your Note I
think it is too early to get depressed about your form.I was at the
Airdrie game and although I agree that Dunfermline were C***, Airdrie
were far from being World Beaters themselves, although if you read the
West-of-Scotland press,they lost everything except a nomination for a
Nobel prize for sport. The point is that it only takes a small turn in
luck or a boost from 1 good result(The Skol Cup Final!!!) to change
the attitude of a team, and the new manager must be given some time to
make his mark on the team.
The depressing part is that there already seems to be two leagues
forming, with the bottom 5 alredy starting to be spaced out, although
I expect Hibs to be down amongst us once their bubble bursts. The bit
that annoys me most is that we seem to be getting the blame for the
Scottish teams going out of Europe. If too many games is our problem,
how come the English clubs(who have had as many games)are all through?
Anyway,Falkirk play the Pars on Tuesday.....SUPER.

3-0 away to our opponents in the Cup Final, Hibs. This will lull them into
a false sense of security then BAM, 4-1 to us in the final...haha...woa man
I'm gonna have to stop taking those drugs.....
Does anyone know if there are any other teams in Britain who haven't yet one
a league game this season. Strange record to hold, but we hold it and there
is no taking it away from us, not even by Airdrie supporters:-)
That is all gonna change tonight though when we take the full two points
from Falkirk. Sorry Stuart, but thats whats gonna happen even though you gave

I should be keeping my head down low today but you've got to face the music

I was at that pathetic 4-0 defeat last night. 6 quid and I didn't even see most
of the second half. The worst thing about this run of defeats is that I can
see no way we can get out of it in a hurry...if at all. Due to the very
clever style of management of Iain Munro we have been left with a team of
three feet midgets, who can skip very nicely, but aren't much use on a
football pitch with grown ups.
Jocky Scott should resign now before his reputation is well and truly
tarnished by this bunch of absolute no-hopers.

We must be the shortest side in the three divisions and yet we have
snow white and the seven dwarfs turning out week after week,.......
Davies,McCall,Leitch,Wilson,Cunnington,Sharp,Robertson and Snow White
herself Kozma because he's been playing like a (he hasn't got a thingy
between his legs).
Things started to liven up for us in the second half after Jocky
wouldn't allow McColl or the young lad Kelly (what a bandit!!)to return
to the field and brought on Davies and Sinclair. They were obviously
out to try for a first team place. Well if they proved something to the
boss them the boss should take note and have the guts to DROP McCATHY
and MOYSE and bring in Haro as a sweeper with the introduction of Laing
who has impressed me with his skill and determination in the reserves.
But above all Scott has got to purchase a player who wants to score
goals and is tall enough to win balls in the air. Just like every other
team in the league.
Stuart you are probably waiting for some remark from me with reference
to Westwater and oven gloves. Well I wasn't truly accurate as good
ol'Westy only needed on oven glove for the jacket potatoe as we served
up a TOSSED salad.

| Well the good old days are back again. That us doubled our points for
the season now.(or to look on the bright side we have only dropped 24
points so far from a pos.26!!)
I was very impressed with thier performance and gritty determination.
If they play with the same amount of conviction next Sunday then Hibs
are in for a fright.
Kozma was without doubt the man of the match and play his midfield role
with the same effect that Trevor Steven had when at Rangers.
Rhodes had little to do (one save) but when called to stop an Aberdeen
attack just before half time he pulled of one of his world class saves.
Raymond Sharp certainly looked comfortable back in his left back
position and Siclair ha sshown the fighting qualities that one
associates with wee George.
If O'Boyle is fit enough for the final next week and he plays out on
the right with Sinclair out on the left with McWilliams and Kozma in
the centre I would feel we could well be on our way to EUROPE.
My selection for next week is as follows:-
RHODES
WILSON McCATHIE MOYSE SHARP
DAVIES KOZMA
O'BOYLE McWILLIAMS LEITCH SINCLAIR
SUBS:- FARNINGHAM
McCALL

Why hide. I've been taking stick all season, at least we got to the final which
is something not a lot of people would have expected at the start of the season.
Maybe I'm a little biased but I really don't think we were as bad as the press
are making us out to have been. Fair enough Hibs were the better team, but if
you look back how many shots on goal did they have? Not a lot. Apart from
Ray Sharp, our defence coped extremely well, and I think if we'd had a proper
striker in there we may well have sneaked a couple ourselves.
And as for the penalty. How many other people after seeing the replay think
that it wasn't a penalty? Take a close look. Weir gets hassled a bit but no
more than usual, then he goes to shoot at goal and miss kicks and falls. But
who are we to complain at bad penalty decisions eh :-)
I suppose the one good thing coming out of the final was that (I know this is
hard to believe) we are quite a bit better than we have been and Jocky Scott
does seem to slowly be getting things into order.
Bring on the Scottish Cup.....

Well, it's been a while since there have been any entries in this topic
hasn't it. And no Bl**dy wonder, what an absolutely cr*p team to
support. God knows how many games have been played in the Scottish
Premier league so far, but we have managed to win a marvellous TWO of
them, and both wins were against the fabulous Falkirk (doesn't make up
for all those other losses I'm afraid). Then on Saturday I had to
SUFFER yet another humiliating display against bottom of the first
division Forfar. I must admit though we did well to come away with a
fine 0-0 draw......
Now Luton must be REALLY bad to have to put up with more stick than us,
or is it that we are SOOOOOO much worse that you noters can't even be
bothered wasting your newly manicured fingernails on typing up slags
against us:-)
Anyway, the reason I have re-surfaced is after reading in the Liverpool
note that our man Istvan Kozma may be having a wee trial down there.
Please please please take him away. He can be an excellent player but
he has obviously lost all interest in playing alongside this cr*p, and
even in trying to sell himself. Who can blame him eh. He's just an
expense we can no longer afford. I must admit I haven't heard anything
of this rumour....
Well, enough of this doom and gloom, back to happiness...now where did
I put that Morrissey album....

"usual kicking game"
This comment coming from a Dunfermline supporter is quite unbeleivable
How you can say Ayr normally play that way is beyond me. Ayr did not
have a single player sent off last season, 1 of only 3 clubs in
Scotland which managed this. Cast your mind back a few years to a Cup
game at East End Park. Ayr in Division 2 and the "Mighty" Pars in the
Premier. A 1-1 draw but the Pars win 1-0 on sendings-off. The replay
at Somerset starts the same way with Bobby the Jobby Smith booting
Henry Templeton onto the running track and Ross Jack shown the red card
for an assault on Ian McAllister. Faced with intimidating circumstances
like these, it's understandable that Ayr folded to 2-0 defeat. If you
had made it to the match you would have seen Scott Leitch running
around like a headless chicken swiping at anyone and everyone, Neil
Cooper's oscar winning "dying swan" routine everytime the ball went out
for a corner/throw-in etc, Rab Shannon's 2-footed attack on Duncan
George which earned him a booking and many more examples of how NOT to
play football, if that's what your team learned in the Premier League,
thank God I don't have to watch it every week. BTW if the STV
cameraman had been a bit quicker, he would have seen McWilliams
retaliating to a challenge from Kennedy which won the ball and causing
two needless sendings off.
Still we in Ayr have come to expect this from Dumbfermline players over
the past 4-5 years.

My goodness, this must be a first for this topic. I have entered a few
notes in this topic, a while back now granted, and have never had
anyone 'bite'. Thanks. The whole point of my previous was in
'retaliation' to a noter in the Ayr topic who stated that 'DuMfermline
played their usual kicking game...'. For one, the spelling mistake in
his note obviously wasn't as deliberate as yours (small irritation),
but more importantly I don't think you guys can make a judgement on
a team you have only played two or three times in the past 4-5 years.
Having said that though you did make a few astute comments about some
of our team. Scott Leitch... Headless chicken... same thing really.
Anyway, I can't really say much more as I wasn't there, but if you
really want to see a kicking team... (out goes the line) go watch
Hearts...
Cheers
Tommy.

| Point taken Tommy,
but I did realise you were "baiting". I think I've been noting long
enough now to smell a tasty morsel when it's dangled in front of me,
but I enjoyed the wee rant, get's a few things off the chest, know what
I mean ?
As for only having played the Pars 2-3 times in 4-5 years that may be
true but I've seen enough on TV to convince me that they are a
"physical" side. Enough said.
As for Sal's spelling....
Words fail me..

Well, since my last entry there have been some very pleasant victories
for The Pars that see us move comfortably into the next round of the
Skol Cup (against Aberdeen) and to the top of the league. I must say
though, from what I have seen so far (which isn't much admittedly) the
rest of the first division must be pretty bad because we are just as
cr*p as last year... although I still don't think we are a team of
'kickers'...:-)
A win on Wednesday at Pittodrie would set us up nicely for our second
top of the table clash in two games against local rivals and 'wannabees'
Raith Rovers....

59.40 | What a load of puddings!!!!! | PAKORA::EWOOTTON | | Sun Aug 23 1992 03:16 | 32 |
|
Heres my first entry of the season . I was at the Hamilton game but
couldn't bring myself to address the conference after such a terrible
game.
However having been to the Raith match today with Raiths two shots at
our goal in 90 minutes, one hit Hamilton the other missed him and was
declared a goal. DuMfermline had most of the game (I'd better not call
it a game or I could find myself in trouble with the Trades discription
act) The loss of Cunnington was a blow but his replacement, Sinclair
did try to draw the Raith defence with his lightening speed down the
left wing but lack of experience showed in his final delivery. However
I'm glad he's in our squad. Derek Laing is sure to be a regular first
teamer one day. I watched him in the reserves last season against the
likes of Aberdeen, Rangers, Celtic etc. and showed promise this also
reflects as to why he was Scotlands Youth captain. Still only 19 years
old he has so much potential.
So to sum up the ninety minutes of HELL...yes I did suffer it to the
bitter end...only because I didn't believe that we could play so much c*ap
for so long.. I was wrong ..........
The Pars were PARthetic.....
The Rovers were Repulsive Rubbish...
The Referee was a Right B***ard.....
If this is a taste of things to come I wont be renewing my season
ticket at the end of this season instead I shall invest my 17/6d in the
post office......
Thank God that I'm on day shift next Saturday .....

Well another defeat for the Pars this weekend. 2-1 away to St. Mirren.
Stick to the 1st division? Thats being a bit over ambitious at the
moment. I can't really say much about whats been going on on and off
the pitch lately as I haven't been here (that explains the reason for
my lack of notes Eric), although I probably wouldn't have put anything
in anyway as the team is rather embarrassing at the moment.
I look forward to reading some good old excuses to explain away our

I have been looking forward to this fixture if just to give big Derek
Grant some verbal. But alas he has chickened out and moved to Montrose
for an undisclosed tranfer signing on fee ( rumour has it that the fee
was equivalent to a weekends overtime in the stores).
We could always ask Frank Bough, with his sado/masocistic fetishes to
become our Federation Chairperson.
I feel ripped off this season having purchased a season ticket to find
that DAFC have been playing reserve games at 1400 kickoffs on Tuesdays
AND behind closed doors.
Though I shall still follow the Pars they can whistle for my season
ticket money next season. I'll just pay at the turnstyles.

then we could be in with a shout of the Premier League.
As you so correctly pointed out we are members of the future SUPER

KILMARNOCK 2 - 3 DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC
(SUPPER LEAGUE) (SUPER LEAGUE)
What an absolute spiffing result and with only TEN men .God only knows
what the scole line would have read if Cooper hadn't been sent off by
Killies 12th man yet not serious enough to warrant the linesman to lift
his flag.
Still we mustn't complain, I bet Burns was after their trip to
Greenock.
Now for tomorrows prediction I will be happy to settle for a draw
though on paper we should beat Raith. At East End when we played them
we should have won but the Pars didn't look as if they were bothered as
they expected Raith to be frightened of us........WRONG..
When we played them at Starks Park we would have been better taking
a trip to Pittencrief Park and sat down for an hour and a half. We just
allowed them to dictate the game.
But tomorrow I think will be a shock to Raith as we are begining to
believe in ourselves.

| I've been so frustrated of late watching the Pars that I have found it
difficult to write any worthwhile match reports.
going back to the win against Meadowbank.. we started with a Parfect
opening spell but after some 15 minutes we became complacent and
allowed Thistle back into the game and it was felt that a repeat of the
last meeting was going to repeat its self but it was a matter of match
fitness that won in the end.
10/3/93 Vs Ayr United.
Well all that can say is that Hamilton had three saves one was a goal,
scored from a very, very, debateable penalty (diving B*@x*/<ard),
another was caused by a defensive f-@* up and resulted in some very
brave goalkeeping and the third was a reflex save on target. That about
sums up Ayr's input into the game apart from successfully filling their
goal with players. I was supprised they never asked the referee to
stand in the goal area as well,. since he was obviously a traveling
fan.
Whilst on the subject of the referee can anyone tell me how on
earth the SFA can find it fitting to send a referee all the way from
Aberdeen all the way down to officiate a game in the south of Fife. I'm
sure there was an available official nearer the venue. All in all he
ruined what had the makings a good hard game.....after all he was
determined to have more bookings than Madona!!!!!
Not at the match today due to working would like to hear of any
match reports.

mins. Results stayed a 2-0 untill Smith drove in the 3rd.Ten minutes
later in the 80 min when the faithful and loyal Pars skipper Norrie
McCathie made it 4.Game finished 4-0 keeping the Pars in touch with the
rest of the leaders.

Sean,
I was there, but spent most of the game counting the Brechin
Support, which at one point swelled to an unbelievable 47,though
I wasn't sure about the chappie with the black shirt and brightly
coloured flag, as he kept moving from end to end.

So, yet another high scoring victory for The Pars on Saturday, 4-2 at home
against St. Mirren. Unfortunately I was too drunk too quickly to make this
game but I have been to a lot of games recently and it seems like we just
can't miss at the moment. After such a dreadful start (bottom of the league
after seven games - i think) and now we are sitting pretty at the top. A nice
victory over those Falkirk boys next week will simply be the icing on the
cake.
Anyone got any gossip about the financial troubles that seem to be hitting
the headlines at the moment. You know the sort of stuff, gathered from the
mouth of one of the players as the were lying guttered under one of the
tables in Lorenzos......

| Dunfermline were on the wrong end of another ludicrous tribunal
decision last week when they were awarded a paultry 200,000 for their
international striker George O'Boyle.
Unfortunately Dunfermline, currently in a dire state
financially, were unable to offer O'Boyle an attractive deal when his
contract came up for renewal at the end of last season. That was the cue
for the asset-strippers to move in,in the shape of St.Johnstone.
They offered an incredible 100,000 pounds for the player,Dunfermline
asked for 700,000 pounds and the matter was forwarded to the tribunal.
Decisions like these mean that every club, when signing an out of
contract player, shall automatically go to a tribunal to get him for
practically nothing. The clubs who can't afford to keep the player
in the first place, are the last people who can afford to be the victims
of such dealings.

Bill firstly its good to see someone else using this note I was

Secondly-
I have to agree with you on the O'Boyle deal, all these players have
financial managers and it should be up to him and the player to
disscuss money,O'Boyle is worth more than 200,000,and fine St.Johnstone
know this, that is why they asked for it to go to a
tribunal.Dunfermline I think are trying to appeal agaist the decision
but I don't think this will do much good.I wonder what price the
tribunal would of came up with if he was playing with Ranger or Celtic
at the time!!!.
Never mind sitting top of the league and thats with O'Boyle.

Your right Archie it was a pretty crap game but they won it and

Anyway the Pars moved 2 points clear at the top with Ardrie lying in
second place after the Pars won at home beating Stranrae(sp) by 1 goal
to nil scored by Petrie after a long throw in by Beimen reached French
just inside the the six yard box which he thumped straight at the
keeper, the Stranrae Keeper failed to hold it and Petrie was there to
slot a easy one passed him to take the lead in the 34th min.The Pars
had most of the play with the revitalised(sp)Westwater only having to
make 1 real save at the end of the game.

The Pars showed their true talent at the week end when they made a
REMARKABLE come back against Dundee at Dens park. The Pars took a early lead
but alas Dundee equalised, then Dundee went 2-1 up but the Pars managed to
pull one back to make it 2-2 at the interval.
Dundee went 4-2 up with 10 min left when the Pars where awarded a penalty,
4-3 with 6 min left and the pars skipper Norrie thumped the equaliser(sp)
home. This was the first 8 goal draw in Scottish football for 2 years,on the
whole the Pars had the upper hand for most of the game but due to
some slack defending and I hasten to say not great forward play or skill
the match turned out to be a classic.Wouldn't it be great to see matches like
this week in week out.
Dundee 4-4 Dunfermline.
Still 2 points clear at the top.
St Johnstone at home next week, now theres one we have to win.
Pars went through to the next round of the B&Q cup after defeating the
Blue Brasil 3-1.Cowden' had a man sent off but that wouldn't have made any

Can't get it right all the time.
Anyway down to the serious stuff,
the Pars lost 1-2 at home to Dundee on Tuesday night in the B&Q
cup,the Pars lost 2 silly goals,1 a penalty after Norrie try to catch
the ball and the other when super fast Robertson failed to put enough
power behind the header which failed to reach westy and the Dundee
striker nippped in and slammed the ball home.
Better luck on Saturday when we meet Ardrie at home.
2-0 tp the Pars.

Raith went 2-1 and the Came back again to make it 2-2 at half time.
The Pars came out in the second half and showed their true class

The Pars struggled against Stranraer on the Goal counts, they however
did have most of the play but its goals that count.Still sitting top of
the league though but that could change after todays game when they
take on Dundee at East End.I think they will come out on top and
will start to score some goals again, which they have been struggling to
do in the last couple of games.

Well Alan,Firstly I must congratulate you on Raith winning the CC cup, though
I am still spewing up at the thought.
Secondly-
Thats the first time I have heard anyone saying 7th bottom and not third
top,I just wonder if it was Raith that was sitting in third place would you be
saying 7th bottom then? somehow I don't think so.
On a more serious note though-
The Pars lost at home today against Dundee losing by 0-1.The goal was scored
in the 88th minute when the Pars thought they had salvaged a point from the
game.
The same old story as the last couple of games, the team played ok but once again
the goal scoring abilty that proved to be their strenght at the start of the
season has somewhat diminished.
Speaking to Hammish French after the game he says" that the teams lack of
abilty to score 3 or 4 goals each game as in previous matches is the sole cause
for their recent bad run of results. The team are still confident that they will
win the league, but you can't win all your matches."
P.S By the way Alan where are the Rovers sitting in the league table.

Pars went through to the next round of the scottish cup after a
easy win over highland league team Cove Rangers.
Pars won 4-0 and will play Ardrie or Stenhousemuir away in the next
round.
Dundee this week,we have to win this one to close the gap to 3 points,
a draw will not do us any good as Raith play Ayr at home and they will
more than likley win that match and take them into second place.
And that I couldn't hack,
Pars to win by 2-1. (I HOPE)

Pars dropped 2 points today against the scottish cup winners(maybe)
Ardrie when they drew 0-0 at home.(I think it wasn't a bad result)
Raith scored another last minute winner to beat St Johnstone 2-1.
Dundee slipped back another place in the league when they were
beat 1-0 by the boys from Love Street.
Well it looks like its down to next weeks game at Starks Park when
they play Raith. If Raith win, then they will go up as out right
winner.Leaving the Pars to win their last game against
Clydebank(at east end)to be involved in the play off's.
But if the Pars beat Raith, then the Pars go top on goal diff' and its
down to the last game of the season.
Who wants to go up to the premier, when the first division produces
a end to the season like this.If there was more money in the first I
would be happy to see teams like Dunfermline,Raith,Dundee,Ardrie stay
in it, as I think its a far more entertaining league and I would rather
see the Pars winning week in week out than getting gubbed each week in
the premier. After all you only go to see your team win.

Not me matey. I go to the game; in the hope of seeing some skillful
football (not that often), to see incident packed football (goalmouth
action and physical play-quite often), to hear and be involved in the
banter, to be outraged by refereeing decisions (pretty likely!), have a
few jars before and after the game and maybe a victory for my team. In
short I go to be entertained (I can also appreciate good football from
opposing teams, maybe that makes me a bit unusual?).
Cheers,

Yes Allan you are right my predictions were all wrong--
BUT WE WILL BOUNCE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I HOPE!!!!
The play off against the Sheep will be on Sunday 21st ,and at East End
the following Thursday.
I think the Pars will struggle as the Don's have been playing
pretty good football in the past 2 or 3 games. The Pars still have
a few players out injured, but you never know, stranger things have
happened.
The 2 legs will not be shown on the T.V, it was reported in one
of todays news paper that the Scottish Junior cup will be shown on
Sunday and the 2nd leg at east end will not be brodcasted.
If this was Celtic or Rangers in the play of I am sure all the T.V

season than you have.

Do you mean the games are not on telly at all ? Surely somebody
must be showing highlights at least ? Will they be on the radio even ?
I think it will be very close. Aberdeen are indeed playing with a
bit of form (at last) but they will have all the (psychological)
pressure on them. However it can hardly be much worse than the last
three weeks I should imagine ...

In response to a previous reply, I believe that the games ARE on the
radio, certainly Radio Scotland have said that they would cover them.
The first leg is not on the telly because STV are covering the Junior Cup
Final, and the BBC are covering the Golf (Dalmahoy?). Don't know the
excuses for the second leg on the Thursday night, but I think if the
first game is close then somebody may have a change of heart (I hope)

there are no suspicious circumstances. It also said there had been some

Footballer and women found dead
POLICE are investigating a double death mystery after the bodies
of a man -- believed to be Dunfermline Football Club captain
Norrie McCathie -- and a woman were discovered at McCathie's
cottage home near Dunfermline.
A scenes-of-crime officer, a police surgeon, and a pathologist
were dispatched to Urquhart Farm Cottages between Dunfermline and
Crossford to investigate the deaths. Other police officers
cordoned off the area.
A police spokesman said that the dead couple would not be
officially named until relatives had been informed. But there
seemed to be little doubt that the man was Mr McCathie.
All that the police spokesman would say was that, after initial
examination, there appeared to be no suspicious circumstances,
which raised questions about whether one or both of them committed
suicide.
Bert Paton, manager of Dunfermline, hurriedly left halfway through
a reserve game at East End Park, Dunfermline, last night with the
club chairman, Mr Roy Woodrow. Club secretary Paul Di Mello said
that no statement would be issued by the club.
The deaths come only weeks after the 34-year-old Dunfermline
skipper announced that he was to be the father of a child being
borne by Julie Gillies, 20, the daughter of wealthy club director
Andrew Gillies.
Apart from being a long-standing Dunfermline player -- he joined
the club in 1981 -- McCathie was co-owner of a public house in the
town.
The police spokesman said that the bodies were discovered just
before six o'clock last night. The dead man, he added, was in his
thirties.
Norrie McCathie was almost an institution at Dunfermline. Club
skipper and so often the last line of defence, he knew also how to
come forward at set pieces and score more than his fair share of
goals. His last game for the club was on Saturday at Paisley
against St Mirren.
He said just a couple of weeks ago that the forwards were moaning
about him giving away goals, so therefore ''he had to make up for
it, and score them''.
That was the nature of the man, born in Edinburgh in March 1961,
and signed from Cowdenbeath in 1981. He was always as articulate
as his play throughout his 15-year spell at East End Park. - Jan 9
