| G'day - and welcome..
Now if you are calling your dog and you wish for it to come to you, you
may well shout "Here, here". If you are echoing sentiments of approval
about something, you may well shout "hear, hear". If you have something
such as a telephone and are teaching its mode of operation, you may
well say "hear here" or should you be so inclined to want someone to
come and listen to something exciting, such as the sound of the sea in
a seashell, you might shout "here, hear! " So feel free to choose.
"Aren't I" is perfectly correct in popular spoken usage. "You are
clever" might inspire you to reply, "Yes I am, aren't I" although the
pedants might prefer "Yes I am, am I not!" which if nothing else, is a
mouthfull. You may also use it within a question - "Aren't I going to
get a payrise?" although "Am I not to get a payrise" may be more
preferable, despite the sentiments expressed within.
You may well be tempted to ask that if "The quality of mercy is not
strained" is that strained as in through a collander or sieve, or
strained as in constipation.
Regards
Derek

| And if you want to comfort someone who's just been frightened,
you can say "There, there".
If you want to scare them even more, then you can say,
"Hear? They're everywhere!"
If you're hawking merchandise that can be worn, you can shout,
"Wear ware!"
If you find these funny, you can say "Har, har."
