Actually, phobophobia doesn't sound to bad to me. Wouldn't that mean
that you're afraid of fear? "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
Then there's
phonophobia - uhhh... this is the fear of speaking on the telephone?
or the fear of record players?
or the fear of hearing the phone ring on a record?
photophobia - probably what Gary Hart has now, at least when he boards
a yacht in the Caribbean
phogophobia - fear of London's liquid sunshine?
pholophobia - fear of being first in line?

spotted an academical jest. Maybe it's an old joke, but I suspect
that Hellenophobia is a nonce word (which reminds me, 411 here I
come when I get time); rather like `flocci-nauci-nihili-pilification'
(which finds its way into quite a few dictionaries, but was only
understood by old Etonians when it was first thought up, whenever
_that_ was).
Helleno- means Greek; a Hellenophile loves Greece. So if something's
`all Greek to you', you're Hellenophobic.

Well, cough-cough, ahem... Ooops. That `r' is not supposed to
be there. The correct spelling is "anthophobia". You can see
the "antho" base used in words like chrysanthomum and anthology
which, of course, means the study of flowers ;-)

The first anthology _was_ subtitled `Other men's flowers'; and
one of the most popular children's anthologies is (or was) `A
child's garden of verse'. The word `anthology' does refer to
flowers; the idea being that the anthology just a collection
of pretty things that someone happens to have noticed.
