309.1 | And if you think THAT'S bad... | DELNI::OVIATT | High Bailiff | Wed Mar 18 1987 16:51 | 14 |
| I can only agree with your gripe. I got off the phone this afternoon
with a woman who told me she was trying to "dialogue with" me.
This was after she told me she had "interfaced with" someone else.
After I gave her some information, she said (honest!) "I would
project that onto..."
At that point, between silent guffaws, I thanked her for calling
and could only think of the theme for the "Twilight Zone".
How's this for an idea, taking them out back and shooting them.
What do you think. There HAS to be a law against such nonsense
doesn't there?

| I'm glad to hear somebody else say that. I thought I was alone
with my desire to call the local constabulatory and have somebody
arrested for murder of the English language.
In a similar vein, I have had several people call me saying that
they were "resourcing". I finally deterimined that the caller was
looking for somebody to help with a problem of some sort. Being
called a resource makes one feel like non-paged pool...

do the dictionaries!)
For instance, the word "network" as a verb. Isn't that within the last
ten years ?

Wait a minute, Dave -- I think I like it. You've created a compound
word describing the British Bobbie:
"A member of the ambulatory constabulary!".

Performing an assessment with the most current requirements available

If the prosecution rests, I only hope that you have recommended the
death penality. I would hate to think that other prisoners might
have to listen to that dribble.

While "dribble" has a certain peotic quality to it, I rather suspect
the word you were lookin for is "drivel".

I stand corrected. "Dribble" it is.
It's just that with creative spelling running wild, one occasionally
feels the need to take up the cause of correctness.
