475.0. "1992-1993 Fleer Ultra Basketball" by MARLIN::MATOS () Tue Aug 25 1992 12:30

I'm looking to pre-order some ULTRA FLEER BASKETBALL cards
that are do out some time in Set/Oct. The only problem is that
I need the money by Friday Aug 28. The info on the cards is
    that it's series I, 300 card set, 14 cards/pack, 36-packs/box,
20-box/case. The case comes out to $900 including shipping
to my house, that's $45 a box not including shipping for each box
Sorry for the short notice, at the moment I need 16 more people
to place the order if I don't get the required amount of people
by Thursday night I'll just forget about ordering it.

    Thanks
    Miguel

475.2Fleer Ultra BasketballQETOO::HAYESTue Oct 20 1992 15:2318
Just got the info on Fleer Ultra Basketball:

    	o 2 Series 200 cards per

    	o Series I has 15 All-NBA Team insert cards

o Series I has also a 5 card NBA Award Winners insert set

o Scottie Pippen is the signature series card (10 cards to the set)

o There are 6 NBA Draft Picks included in the Series I set
(#'s 193-198) Alonzo Mourning, Adam Keefe, Robert Horry,
Anthony Peeler, Tracy Murray and Dave Johnson.

Now the bad news ---- dealers must pay over $800 per case! Just over
$40 per box (compared to $34 per box for FB and BB).

Even BJ's will have to sell for $45 per box or so!

I opened a box last night, these cards are beautiful. I think I'm close
to a set but I haven't gone through them yet. The photography is all
top-notch, none of the darkness problems that appear in the football
set. There are about 6 draft picks including Morning, the players
are pictured in their college days which I really like. No Magic or
Bird which surprised me. There is an all NBA team insert set (1st, 2nd
and 3rd teams), maybe they're included in there? or maybe they'll be
in series two along with Shaq.

Nice box Walt, the award winners seem to be one per box average,
two if you're lucky, none if you're me.

I got a Pippen, and 4 NBA 1st,2nd team cards in the one box I opened.

Looks like the insert count will vary all over the place like other
Ultra products, unlike the 93 Donruss which seems to be consistent
that you get 4 DKs and 2 SGs.

I got my box this week and got two sets out of the box. Got two award
winners but it was the same card #4 (Detlef Schrempf) got 3 all nba
team (Karl Malone, Scottie Pippen & Kevin Willis) and 1 Pippen card.
Looks like it's going to take some work on putting these sub sets
    together.

475.9Fleer Ultra Series IIQETOO::HAYESTue Feb 09 1993 15:3218
Just read the checklist for Fleer Ultra II Basketball. There
will be 3 different Shaq cards. His regular series card and
2 insert cards (amazing how many times they can work him into
    a product).

The inserts in Series II are:

The Rejectors (Shaq is in here) 5 cards.

The Playmakers (surprisingly he's not here) 10 cards.

Fleer Ultra-Rookie Team (he's in here) 10 cards.

    25 inserts in all.

The set itself is numbered 251-375.

To all who preordered and prepaid for Series II (both Hockey
and Basketball). I have not skipped the country. A dealer I
talked to yesterday (Batter's Up in Tewksbury) had called
Fleer. They are running over 2 weeks late in production
(must be because they printed a Series II Hockey when they hadn't
    planned to).

    Hi,

I have heard that fleer ultra basketball, series II, is going to
begin shipping on March 22nd. They should be in the stores around
here, by the end of the month.

John StOnge and I went to a card shop at lunch. They said that Fleer
Ultra Basketball II will be out with in a week. I wonder if Fleer
decided to ship Basketball II before Hockey II? The $46.50 we paid
for presale seems to be a good price (Of course if Shaq gets
hurt next year we'll see it for $30 a box).

How about if I open all your boxes and let you all know what inserts
    you got!!!!! Only kidding Denny!

Shaq's and Mournings all over the place. Better then winning
    the lottery!

When you get the lists, would you post them here.

I've got 4 of the five Rejectors (I know Shaq is #4), so I'll send you
    those soon.

In the meantime, does anyone know who is #5, which I am missing.

Not sure how consistent this is, but if you open a whole box of
Fleer Ultra II, it seems that whatever numbers you get from the All
Rookie Series, you'll get the same numbers from the Playmakers set.
    I got 5, 6 and 7 from the AR Series, and 5, 6 and 7 from the
    Playmakers set.

So, if you pull a Playmakers #7 (Terry Porter), keep digging for the
    All-Rookie #7 (Shaq) ??!!

Sort of, but not completely. I got Anderson, Skiles and Porter
from my box, and I got Williams and O'Neal and maybe Ellis. Not
sure if I bought Ellis separate or not.
