107.0. "The Offical Goodbye Note" by MADMAG::NORRIS (What is it, Miss Pfeffernuss?) Wed Feb 07 1990 11:12

Seems like yesterday Roy and I talked about starting this thing and Roy
did so. Well I'm out-of-here! The hobby has turned from a pleasure to a
joke (at least to me). Good luck with the collections.

107.2"Bye Ed" ...HEFTY::DANIELETThu Feb 08 1990 10:3520
How depressing. But, I guess theres nothing we can do to change this
thing called "card collecting" back into a hobby. The future doesn't look any
brighter either. Take my 9 year old son for example. I've talked to him 'til
I'm blue in the face, but theres no use. He's lost forever. His favorite cards
and players are those that are worth the most in the price guide. As for the
"errors" ... he lives for 'em. He buys packs of cards for the same reason I buy
an instant lottery ticket. Either he wins (gets an error/$$$ card), or he loses
(gets commons, above commons). Its an addiction. I've tried taking the price
guide away, but he has all the prices memorized anyway. I give up.

I don't think you people realize how much you've lost with Ed "gone".
Ed's helped me out more than anybody else in this conference with card and other
collections I've been involved with. He's met me on Saturdays and taken the
time to take me places where I could find what I was looking for. He's a great
guy and a good friend, and I'll miss 'em. He knows what this "hobby" is all a-
bout. Its about helping someone and being a good friend ... not just cutin a
profit. Oh well ...

107.3Its been fun ...SA1794::DANIELETWed May 16 1990 15:2714
... I will be leaving the company shortly, so my days in this "forum"
are numbered. I don't know what to say except I'm glad I had the chance to
help some of you out (... and maybe entertain you a little too 8^). I'd like
to thank everybody who helped me out, and especially thank Roy and the "MAD"
man ... wherever you are ? By creating this conference, they helped make get-
ting through some tough days at work alot easier. I know some of you out there
didn't always agree with what I had to say, but I hope you can appreciate the
fact that I was honest and said what I said in the best interest of the hobby.

Well, its been fun ... and I'll never forget it. Good luck to every-
one ... and I hope all your collecting dreams come true !!!

Just a short note to add my own personal news - I'm leaving DEC too. I
want to tell you all how much I've enjoyed this conference and meeting
many of you, trading, buying, or selling cards. There are a lot of
    very nice collectors out there.

I'm still interested in trading cards, in case anyone wants to pursue
    this "off-net." I collect some older sets (57, 58, 59, 61, 70, 71),
some stars (Koufax, Clemente, Spahn, Brooks and Frank Robinson, Gibson,
Roberts, Banks, Fisk, Fingers), and have lots of stuff I'd trade. If
this isn't inappropriate, I can be found in the West suburban
directory for those interested in taking me up on this.

    Good luck to you all!

I have been an infrequent contributor to this conference, but
enjoyed reading every note since I joined it a couple years back.
Now comes the hard part. It's time to move on. DEC and DECcies
have treated me well, but my skills are no longer required at this
facility, and I'm not ready to relocate just yet. Fortunately,
the financial blow will be softened with the buyout/TFSO. I've
had a lot of fun contributing to this conference and learned a
fair amount, too. Friday will be my last day, so I just might
have a final pearl of wisdom or two. In any case, I hope the
future treats you all kindly. Who knows? I may come back,
someday (kinda like a bad penny). Take care, one and all.
If you're ever in the Phoenix area, look me up. I'll be at a card
shop or a show at the mall. See ya there.

I'm saying goodbye to good ol' DEC today and heading south to
Florida, today's my last day. I just wanted to thank everyone who
contributes to this file. I didn't participate much, but I read
religiously, and learned a hell of a lot about this hobby from you
guys. I'm really going to miss this enormous pool of information and
    advice.

Thanks again for all the enjoyment.

    Take care,
    Bob.....

I'm leaving as well, and I just wanted to say goodbye to everyone and
thanks. It's been great trading with you all, and it's going to be a
lot harder now! I hope to keep in touch, maybe I can even get someone
to post a list for me every now and then.

To all my friends and associates:

I have stalled off this day for as long as I can but the time has
come to say goodbye. Unless something changes, Friday, June 11,
1993 is my last day at Digital.

This is not an easy task for me. I will surely miss working with
each of you. The past fifteen-plus years have been fun, except
for the "layoff years". (Sorry, I can't bring my myself to call
        it "rightsizing")

I remember the hectic times of rapid growth more fondly than the
last couple. Digital has given me an opportunity to grow and
develop skills I may not have acquired somewhere else. I look
forward to utilizing them in my new "life".

I will start on a job hunting journey over the next couple of
weeks. I'm not sure where that will lead me however, I hope
someday we cross paths again. So until then.. Beware the hand
        that taps you.

Let's keep in touch. Send me a card or letter. My home address
        is:

        2555 Buttercup Dr.
        Richardson, Tx 75082

Don't look back, somebody may be gaining on you.

Well, my last day at Digital is Thursday, October 27th. I've accepted
a job at Adobe Systems, in Mountain View, CA. I wish everyone luck and
I appreciate all the deals and trades thru the years... hopefully,
you'll see me in one of the newsgroups from [email protected].
