The POWERGLOVE is a controller-device that you strap
to your wrist for about $90. TOYS-R-US has them in
Auburn, MA.
Have not heard from any conference folks on if they
are thumps up or down yet.
Looks neat, but how they work etc etc, is unknown.
Kidda makes you feel like ROBOCOP I guess.

341.3 | Don't like it | FINALY::SFA | | Mon Oct 30 1989 19:11 | 33 |
| A friend and I went in together and bought the POWERGLOVE last week.
My comment on it is that it looks a lot better than it performs.
Basically the way it works is that finger movements correspond to
the buttons, index finger is the A button and middle finger is the B.
To go left you roll your arm left, roll right for controller right.
Wrist up and wrist down is controller up and down.
The glove takes the button commands ok, but the movement commands
don't work all the time..make that most of the time. One thing I
didn't like was that you have to assemble a sensor net that fits
around your TV screen. It's sized to fit on a 25 inch or smaller
screen and it is intended that the TV be low to the ground. My set is
a 54 inch projection that sits rather high. Because of this I had
quite a bit of trouble getting things placed where they would work,
and I was unable to sit in my chair. The angles weren't right and
I had to stand in front of the TV.
I tried it with TOPGUN and PUNCHOUT. I had better luck with TOPGUN,
than PUNCHOUT. It doesn't responde very quickly and you get clobbered.
I don't know how much of that is due to the way I had to setup
the sensors though.
I'm going to be putting it on a 25 inch portable later this week and
I'll let you know how it works then.
In short I'd say that the Glove reminds me alot of the GYROBOT.
It looks neat but I don't feel it's worth the money and I certainly
wouldn't trade my Advantage joystick for it. In fact if I can find
the receipt I'm going to return it if it doesn't work any better on
the smaller set. But that big screen sure does add alot to the games
... in my opinion.

The person who wrote about the power glove, and said it wasnt all
that good, must not be using it right. I bought one for my brother and
he can beat anyone in any game. Its performance is outrages!!
You have to read the instructions very carefully, I my self dont have
the patience for it. If anyone is interested in buying one my nephew
is selling one. I bought him a large and its too big. I payed $69.99
+ tax and I'm asking $50.00. If interested please reply or send me
e-mail.
