YOUR DOCTOR. DO NOT TAKE ADVICE FROM NOTES CONFERENCES! As host of this
conference, I'd love to hear how you are getting on, but would really
prefer that the folks here confine their advice-giving once you have
some good guidelines from your Doctor.

| The question is not about medications but about how to deal with a side
effect. Yes, he should discuss this with his doctor, but ultimately
he will have to deal with the problem himself.
I've been on a regular and unusually heavy dose of Prednisone for years
and have several of the nasty side effects, one of which is a constant
hunger with the concomitant propensity for weight gain.
Self discipline works if you can do it. This file is a help.

| Also, don't just assume that Prednisone will put on weight. Each
person is different...While I was on a very high dosage of Prednisone a
couple of years ago, I succesfully dieted off 30 pounds.

| RE .1 Trust me - there is no one that is checked more or is supervised
more by doctors than a transplant patient. In fact I have asked the
m.d.'s what they recommend and in general it's the Weight Watchers
program - absolutely none of the liquid diets which have had some
bad press lately. But thanks for the concern - I understand what
you are saying. I just wanted to hear about others' experiences
with weight gain and medication. I know prednisone isn't the only
drug that causes this side effect and I thought the weight control
file might be a good spot to pop the question.
