Chances are that the queue was stopped. I believe there are circumstances in
which if there is a problem with the printer, the queue may stop (stall?) and it
does not resume automatically when the printer problem is fixed - IS have to
manually restart the queue ...

This seems to be the likely scenario here ...

Just like we're now getting *paper* memos
handed out in Viables, (for subjects that aren't even relevant
to us as it happens) because we don't have Exchange yet
in some areas and mails sent from Exchange take 3 days
to get through to non-exchange accounts and the attachments
get removed by the routers.

Why building mails can't just be sent to the usual building
distribution list until the new cock-up, sorry system, is
working I can't imagine.

TECHNOLOGY! (a la brass eye)

Is this good science or bad science ?

As Ian just said - "Microsoft Exchange - Why?"

1128.226What's up with WOTVAX ?BBPBV1::WALLACEjohn wallace @ bbp. +44 860 675093Fri May 16 1997 12:1951
Anyone else besides me having trouble with lumpy response on All-in-1
    on WOTVAX lately ?

Hit return to read the next screen of a mail, then wait tens of
seconds. Editing is sometimes nearly impossible as I can type (badly)
faster than the system responds (and I am a SLOW typist). It is
    getting very frustrating.

The route I use to get there is
    PC-> ACB -> LAT -> BBPBV1 -> (DECnet or TELNET) -> (WOTVAX or Warbly)

The PC->ACB -> BBPBV1 link is just fine. The problem is downstream. The
problem is apparently independent of whether I use SET HOST (DECnet) or
TELNET, and independent of whether I connect to WOTVAX or WARBLY.

Anyone else in BBP having problems ? Any North UK folks outside BBP
having problems ? Are we looking at BBP->REO congestion, or a problem
on WARBLY/WOTVAX ? Should I just give up until I get EXCHANGEd ?

There are no errors or unusual counters on BBPBV1 except the response
    timeouts in the following:

Why are you sending mails from ALL-IN-1 to Exchange. A more effecient
way is to use the ALL-IN-1 MAPI DLL in Windows 95.

    Andrew,

I came back off Telnet after a few days; the throughput with Zmodem was
almost halved by using TELNET rather than LAT, and as I use Zmodem
rather a lot between BBPBV1 and home, I changed back to LAT and got a
substantial saving in phone charges for the company.

Even so, I'm under the impression that All-in-1 is a lot worse this
week than a while ago. Even now, at after 5:35 on a Friday, when all
sensible people have logged off for the day, All-in-1 is still almost
unusable for editing, and pauses while reading.

I'll log a call on Monday.

John,

i just tried RASing into REO, but gave up because after about 10 minutes
Exchange hadn't even started.

I RASed into OLO and this worked better (my original Exchange session
actually re-activated).

Methinks that there are serious network problems (or congestion) ahappening
at the moment, indeed if ALL-IN-1 character I/O is slow then things must be
REALLY bad!

I finally logged a call this A.M. having been busy with other stuff in
    between.

DECnet continues to show response timeouts (i.e. lost data which had to
be retransmitted thus making things even worse) at an appalling rate.
UCX would too if I knew how to find the equivalent counter.

I've lost a complete edit session as well a few minutes ago, "path to
    partner lost".

I will await a call from Reading I.S.
