110.0. "Suggestions for Public Display?" by OLDTMR::BENNETT () Thu Jul 12 1990 15:02
Hi Folks,
I'm looking for suggestions on how to go about getting some military hardware
and personnel for a public display.
Every fall, the pilots association at Minuteman airport in Stow (MA) holds an
"AirFest" which is open to the public. It's a family event, with lots of kids
activities, aircraft displays, rides, etc. Airplane and helicopter rides are
given all day, and all proceeds are donated to the Stow Community Chest. For
the last two years running, we've attracted over 3,000 people.
Both years we had a Huey and her crew from Ft. Devins show up, and they were
immensely popular. We arranged that through a local Army recruiter, but it
wasn't easy.
This year, I'd really like to get more equipment. Maybe some ground support
stuff - trucks, jeeps, whatever.
Is there some kind of "public relations office" at Ft. Devins or elsewhere?
Any suggestions on what kind of equipment or personnel would make a good
public display?
Thanks,
-Steve

| ...you can call the Public Relations Office on Ft. Devens directly. I
don't have the number handy, but it should be easy enough to find by
calling information.
thanks

| ...there is also a local group of the Military Vehicle Collector's
Club (MVCC). Some of the members frequent these notes files and I'm
sure they would like to help you out. I'll let them pass on the info
as I don't have that handy neither.....

| ...If you'd be interested in having a display of military models, there
are a couple of Modeling Clubs in the area. Check out IOALOT::PLASTIC_
MODELING. I'm sure they'd be willing to put on a display for ya.
