Growing Up Scared
An article from the June issues of the Atlantic Monthly, written by
Karl Zinsmeister. I think it merits careful reading. It is long. It
addresses only one issue that is discussed here, namely children of
single parent families. It is largely about poor urban black children.
As such perhaps it can be viewed as irrelevant by those of us who are
white, middle-class, and suburban.

Karl Zinsmeister is a writer and consultant on social-demographic
issues who lives in Washington, D.C. He is also an adjunct scholar at
the American Enterprise Institue. Zinsmeister is working on a book
tentatively title The Childproof Society: Are Americans Losing Interest
in the Next Generation.
