conversations they have when they come out they look at more than
brains, eyes, clothes, etc.....
when most of the ladies are out with the ladies they are just like
the men out with men and as i said before almost all of us like

I'm never on the make ;^)
But...if I were...
I'd notice the man's hair color and overall build. Dark hair and a
leaner athletic build...not too tall (6' is the max since I'm only
5'2"). I don't go for the "incredible hulk types".
Next I look at his face. Does he smile? Eye color is unimportant
as long as he makes eye contact often.
After that, being able to carry on a conversation longer than 10
minutes is essential! This is when factors like intelligence,
sense of humor, openness, honesty, interests, etc. really matter.
All the glitz is gone when a man can't relate to me as a person.
As a result, very few men I've dated actually look like the above.
The other factors end up being *much* more important than looks.
But you asked what women look for when on the make!

RE: .0
First off, I resent your statement about "being on the make."
I'm never "on the make".....I rarely pick up men in bars. I
don't go man-hunting. "On the make" sounds like I'm slinking
around hunting down someone to have sex with.
Pardon me, but that's not "me."
Anyway..what am I ATTRACTED to, you say?
Comfortable communication on any subject
Caring, concerned and attentive
Expressive eyes that let me see his thoughts
Someone who's main goal is NOT to bed me
Well-cared for hair (prefer long..but most important is
softness)
Well-proportioned (not too large, not too thin)

If you resent "on the make" that's ok, but you probably still look.
You can cover it over with suger and make it look good or
you can be earthy about it and just say right out what
turns you on and what you say to other woman about it.
Great replies so far, I'm learning a lot of value goes into intelligence

| Umm.. I agree with Kathy, I'm never "on the make", and the only time I
tried it (quit laughing Kathy and D!), I made a complete shambles of
the WHOLE thing :-)... even though technically I was successful :-)
What do *I* personally look for...
Well, I would never kick a Chippendale out of bed for eating crackers
there :-)... but realistically...
I like a man that has a brain... looks might attract me, but if he
isn't intelligent, he won't find me around long. No smoking... I like
a man who can appreciate a good glass of wine (although I don't drink
it, I like it on his breath)... If I go strictly for looks, which I
tend to very often *not* do, he'd have to look EXACTLY like my
hairdresser... Tall, extremely hairy chest, muscular, blue eyes, brown
wavy hair...
On the flip side of that, give me a balding man anytime, and I'll
melt...
On the other flip side, a man my height, weighing slightly less than me
is also enough to make me melt...
If he smokes, he doesn't get a second look, and if he can't act like a
man on a date, he'll find the evening cut EXTREMELY short if its a
first date...
I tend to like the men that know how to be a man, and how to treat a
lady like a lady...

First thing I notice:
His face. He has to have a
pleasant face. What I look at most on the face is
lips and eyes. I love full lips. Also on the face that
attracts me: whiskers (not a beard, but stubble),
nice white teeth, glasses are nice, too.
Those are the traits I notice when just "checking out"
a man. Not necessarily when looking for a boyfriend.
If it's a potential relationship:
What I need is a man with character.
Someone very different. And along with that personality
and intelligence. It's hard to describe. But, if a man is
a "10" in the looks department, but lacks in character,
forget it.
Also, (if I might add...) I happen
to like dark hair and a well-toned build, and lots of height
(I'm talking 6'4"+), and long hair....but, my boyfriend has
very blond hair, has a "belly", is 6'1", and has short hair,
and his personality is very unique, and he has lots of
character. That's what makes him. So, I'd say undoubtedly
that physical appearance is what first thing that attracts
alot of women, but, it's the other qualities that keep the
attraction going.....

Hahahaha...I can't help but laugh, Gale!!!! you HAVE to
admit, it was funny.
"Looks" on a guy are pleasing....and sexy. But
attractiveness is a whole 'nuther ball game. I would never
DREAM of anything more than a casual glance at a guy that was
sexy yet didn't fit my "attractiveness" mold.

| I notice posture as an indication of the sensuality of the man.
When I'm on the make, I'm attracted to the guy who stands tall and
leans easily on things. I don't know how else to explain it.
Once in college I came out into the kitchen to meet my date and he was
standing there with his forearm up on top of the refrigerator.
Whattasite! I like the casual sophistication that you generally find
in people with either money or intelligence. The quiet man in the back
with the knowing grin - that's the one I'll notice.

| The guys who catch my eye vary widely in appearance, from the
classically gorgeous (not too many of those, actually - if they're
_too_ "pretty" I don't find them interesting) to some really
goofy-looking types who happened to have an appealing twinkle in the
eye. I do tend to focus on faces first, especially the eyes and mouth.
As for other body parts, well... I have occasionally paused to admire a
pair of wide shoulders, moderately well-muscled, encased in a T-shirt
or a work shirt - but if the shoulders are topped with an unintriguing
face, my eyes will wander onward.
I've never understood the fascination some have for "buns"; I don't
find them either interesting or exciting to look at. (While clothed and
in public, anyway!) Same goes for the, um, other side of the pants, if
you get my drift; if the rest of him doesn't attract me, I have no
interest whatsoever in the contents of his jeans.
If I were at a male strip show, would I look? Sure - but I have this
strong feeling that I'd find the whole thing funny, rather than exciting.

| A poem by W. Farrel sums up what I look for...............
A Man Is Good For........
Taking out the garbage
and carving up the meat;
For driving when he's exhausted
and I want the passenger seat;
He's good for changing a light bulb
and, oh, yes, for changing a tire;
For taking the top off an uptight jar
and chopping wood for a fire;
He's good for steering a car through fog and
fishing with our son;
For raking fallen leaves and
making up bad puns;
For spinning ghost stories to the kids
("Make it scary...but not TOO scary!")
For telling the children the quarters were left
by a magical tooth fairy;
For reaching back into a cupboard high
while his fanny sticks out far,
(As he removes a rusty waffle iron
from behind a dusty jar);
For watching Monday Night Football games
and acting like he's the winner,
For taking me to restaurants and
reflexively paying for dinner;
For letting me stick a snowball down
into his private part;
For giving a head start in a race
(he's really just a kid at heart!);
For riding roller coasters, saying he's
glad I was born . . .
For coaching the kids at baseball,
for returning to mow the lawn;
He's good for painting houses
and for renovating a flat;
For keeping me warm when it's freezing
despite one less layer of fat;
But most of all he's good for coats
he puts around my shoulder,
For the way he swings our
daughter about, for how he stops to hold her;
For the way he says, "I love you"
with his strong but tender hugs,
And, oh yes, men are good for . . .
killing spiders and swatting bugs!!

I look at a man's neck first (too many vampire movies). Then his
forearms. If a man has strong forearms it's a pretty good bet
that the rest of the bod is in shape.
Before I get blasted, yes this is a purely physical description
that has nothing to do w/the human inside.
This is what I *look* for, it's the person inside that *keeps* me.

1. His Eyes (eyes are very important even if you want to
know more than obvious things like only look etc.)
2. his voice (for me it's very important, because if the
voice is ugly to me the whole person doesn't interest me.
Also the kind of talking and how do you express yourself has
something to do with voice.
3. How is he dressed
4. The whole appearance (smart etc.)
These are the most important points to me when I see a man
I could be familiar with.

| It's funny, for my theory is that being short-sighted is quite an
advantage. When you forget your glasses somewhere, the constant
twinkling when trying to focus the other person (which, with my 3
dioptries is quite hard except at VERY short distances..) is a sure
path to cause interest. Problem with this approach is that YOUR
perception of the other person resembles something you normally
associate with impressionistic paintings like the ones from Renoir or
Monet, which could be risky...
And wearing glasses tends to underline that mischievous look, too. Must
be the slightly magnifying effect of the glasses.
Forget contact lenses!
Besides, studies in Israel's army showed that short-sighted men, in
average, are deliverers in the IQ department, too.

Strong forearms, yes. Sometimes they are enough to sent shivers up my
spine no matter what the rest is like (body and mind).
The eyes next, the ability to look at my face (not other bits!).
Above all a sense of humour.
Quite frankly, I am not turned on by, neither do I ogle a man's bum
unless I know him well. It just seems too intimate and makes me
uncomfortable.
Mind you, I have no problems ogling a bare-chested well-built man!

| Back to the question at hand...
What do I notice when admiring God's creation, in particular
men?
It honestly depends on where I am...
For example:
At_the_Beach
A hairless chest and strong looking legs and arms are the first
thing I notice from the back or front. It doesn't hurt if it is
nicely tanned either.
At_the_Office
Well-groomed men draw my attention in more formal surroundings.
This includes everything from his hair to his clothes to his
hands. And I actually find glasses on a man very sexy!
At_the_Mall
A pair of Levi's only help to emphasize a nice backside. That
is what I notice when coming up from the back. Hair and eyes
(colors don't matter) are what I notice when approaching from
the front.
That is what I notice when *admiring* or *looking* at a man,
but it is not what I care about when *interested* in a man. I
wouldn't be human if I didn't look at all those handsome fellas
in the world!

"accessoire" to look real smart...
Anyway, they can be damn inconvenient, too, especially when both
partners wear glasses and they try to passionately kiss... or when
you're kissed and the thought crosses your mind "dang, I'll have to
clean the glasses afterwards!"...
Still, good to see there's another believer in glasses, you won't
