Huh ... this is a Dean Koontz story.
Read it about a year ago or so ... pretty good, but we'll see
how it translates to the screen.

| I liked the book a lot (except for the ending) and I'll deifinitly go
see this to see how it does on the big screen.
As far as Jeff Goldblum goes, my favorite performance from him was in
The Big Chill. He was also pretty good in The Fly, but other then that
he doesn't do that much for me.

| How about Goldblum in the Tall Guy? That was a good flick.

| Best performance was the one in Jurassic Park...He had a good part
written for him....witty and downplayed (as opposed to his usual
manic self)

I guess he was OK in Jurassic Park. Though where you saw "witty and
downplayed", I saw a manic a la his usual self, except in a lower
energy depression phase this time. He was still his usual
character, except this time maybe he skipped his morning's
Captain Crunch and coffee breakfast.... :-)

did with his then-wife Geena Davis. No mania at all.

| Saw it...I haven' read the book (but this is a MOVIE conference so can
we just stick with what we SEE not read)SO I can't make a comparison...
BUT the action in the movie starts pretty quickly, and it Was tense
through most of this movie......I enjoyed it and thought the performances
were pretty good, NOT to mention the special effects which I really
loved..... will watch it again at rental time....
I'll let someone else in this conference pick it apart
PS. Goldblum was solid!

| I read the book recently and saw the movie even more recently. There
are a LOT of differences between the two, but the movie is quite
tolerable even after having just read the book a couple weeks ago.
The special effects were GREAT!

| Hey All,
I saw it last night, and until I got the hang of it, I was thoroughly
confused - but in a good way.
The effects were very well done. And the story wasn't as weak as it
could have been. Hat's off!
And ditto on staying till the end of the credits 8-)

Nah... too soon for a spoiler. Maybe in a week or two.

I'm not a moderator in this conference, but I can answer [or
not answer, actually] your question.
This isn't a moderator issue. The issue is whether anyone is
willing to reveal the "surprise" [whatever it is] to you.
There's no rule as to how long to wait before posting spoilers,
but there's also no rule that can force someone to post some-
thing they don't want to post.
So it looks like it'll cost you $6.50 to find out for yourself.

RE .16 - That's the way it goes. Maybe someone will take pity on you
and send you mail. :-)

| Nina,
I received private mail from one of the people who responded and
he told me what happened.....kind soul that he is.....then I ended up
going to a matinee ($4.25) to see it again ha
Just read the 4th review on this and Sieskel and company is
slamming it. I've got to say, I haven't had a taste for this kind
of movie for a while, and I enjoyed it even More the second time!
(and yes I waited till the very end)(knowing an ending does not
spoil it for me)
Sieskel said there was alot of bloodletting which was FALSE!
The director did NOT dwell on any one thing and I appreciated that.
There were a few scenes I'd like to get opions on but I guess
I'll have to wait a while to do a spoiler.... Why I liked this
film is beyond me but I still thought ~Jeremy Sisto~ was
excellent as the "evil one". In order for the good guy to
look good, the bad guy has to be even better and I thought
he was great. Is he a new actor? know about any previous work?
|
772.20 | Ick. | QUARRY::reeves | Jon Reeves, UNIX compiler group | Mon Mar 13 1995 19:59 | 14 |
| First, the objective stuff: Sisto's been around a bit, as the databases could
have told you:
Grand Canyon (1991) [Roberto]
Desperate Choices: To Save My Child (1992) (TV) [Josh] (aka Solomon's Choice (1992) (TV))
Crew, The (1994) [Tim]
Hideaway (1994)
Shaggy Dog, The (1994) (TV)
And I'll agree that he's someone to watch.
That aside, though, this really fell apart for me in the last reel (once they
got to the place of the final showdown). I found much of that sequence
laughable. The post-credit epilogue did slightly redeem it...

I agree. I saw this this weekend and thought it was good until the first
ending. I liked the second ending though and felt better about leaving
on that note. I feel bad for the people that missed the better ending.
