That's an easy question: It was Awful. Have you ever had root-canal
work? It's just like that, only less entertaining. Well, at your age,
probably no root-canal work to compare it to. Tonsilectomy? No such
luck as an anesthetic.
Like a double case of the mumps, I guess.

| Now I didn't think it was all that bad. Better than being poked in the eye
with a sharp stick, anyway. Seriously, it certainly wasn't high drama, but
I thought it had its moments. I videotaped it, but decided to use the tapes
over. I reasonably enjoyed watching it, though.

| The first in the two part mini-series was pretty good, even
though I refused to watch it last night. Pushing the comparison
between Aliens vs. humans, and Nazis vs. Jews kinda got to me,
though. The second part in the series (supposed to show tonight)
is just plain awful. Especially the ending, which makes no sense
in context of the rest of the movie. Sigh, I suppose the series
is just going to show more of the same as was found in the second
movie.

RE: -1
I agree the ending didn't make much sense...I even went to the book
store to find out what the kid was doing, it was so important I forgot.
I found it an interesting movie, but not worth a series...I'll just
watch AIRWOLF instead...

| So the series wasn't into scientific accuracy - at least there were
some decent characters, who related to one another instead of mugging
into the camera, and who showed signs of undergoing change after
their traumatic experiences...
I liked "V", but admit that, considering the job TV usually does, I
look forward to the series with some trepidation.
(For the purists: in the book of "V: The Final Battle" or whatever it
was, the half-breed child is NOT some kind of junior archangel; she
is merely a genius, a super-programmer who hacks the self-destruct
mechanism at the last minute. I would have much preferred to see that
in the movie, but I guess the director wanted to use up the rest of the
special-effects budget.)

I noticed a novel in B. Dalton's last night based on the movies/upcoming
series. I didn't take a close look (that bloody "V" across the cover caught
my attention...) but the title (which I forget!) implied that it covers the
action on the *east* coast.

To find comments on the first showing of "V", read note #62 and the
responses. The few snatches I saw while tuning the TV seemed to be the
same "V" we all know and love(?), so I skipped it.

| I too didn't find it all THAT bad, although I did recycle the video tapes
of it, so it isn't a classic either.

TWO MUCH
In upcoming episodes of NBC'S V this season, the lizard-like Visitors will
be led by "Charles," a decidedly illegal alien played by Duncan Regehr.
Naturally, he'll be working hand-in-glove with "Diana" (Jane Badler), the
military leader of the invaders. Charles and Diana? Ah yes: "A royal
romance between them? Well, the airwaves do tend to quiver when they pass
each other," says Regehr. There's one little problem. "It's a little
difficult to figure out what lizards *do*. Maybe they just intertwine their
tails." And maybe that's best left to one's imagination...
[For those of you who are unfamiliar with his work, Duncan Regehr played
the evil Prince Blackpool in "Wizards and Warriors", and the gladiator in
"Last Days of Pompeii". He is, to be blunt about it, a hunk and a half
(ladies, please note!), and radiates a presence that must be seen to
be believed. (Is it getting warm in here?) If this "Charles" character is
half as mean as Blackpool was, Diana will look like very small potatoes
indeed, and the good guys are in *trouble*...) And now, back to TV Guide.

*** SPOILER WARNING ***
While we're on the subject, circle your calendar for DEC. 21. That's the
night that Elizabeth (she's the offspring of a human and a Visitor) is
cloned. Insiders say that, unlike Elizabeth, her clone is "really evil."
***********************************************************************
On the bummer side, however, TV Guide also has an article which
states although Cosby, Highway to Heaven (gag), Miami Vice (yeah), Punky
Brewster (?), and Its Your Move have been renewed; the decision on
Hunter, *V*, Partners In Crime, and Hot Pursuit will depend on how they
do in their next few outings.
