    I'm looking for an inexpensive hotel/motel in the Halifax, MA area.
    
    I braid professionally and will be going to the Fieldstone Farm show
    the beginning of August.  
    
    I usually go home each day but since we recently moved, the commute
    will now be over 2 hours and after braiding all night, I don't think I
    want to drive that far...
    
    Just need a clean bed and shower - nothing fancy since I won't be there
    much - just late morning through afternoon.
    
    Can be within 1/2 hour of Halifax (near Plymouth)...

    Hi,
    
    Does anyone know of or have themselves a trailor which they rent out.
    I will probably need it in a week to 10 days time to transport my horse
    to the vets and then again a few days later to bring her home again.
    
    It will be driven by my father who's had probably 20 years experience
    of towing extremely large caravans/trailors etc. and has a suitable car
    for the job.  We just need a trailor to go on the back!!!!
    
    Any offers or references would be fantastic as I'm desperate - it will
    cost me �60 each time with the only person I know who has a box and my
    insurance company won't pay for the costs of transporting to and from a
    vets.

    A friend of my fathers owns an apple orchard.  This year I mentioned to
    my dad that if Ed had any 'apples with zits' (unsaleable blemished
    fruit that's perfectly good) I'd take a bag down to the barn to bribe
    my buddy Jock with.
    
    He's given my dad *9* grocery bags FULL of apples.  Not even Jock is
    going to eat 9 bags of apples, so if anyone would like a bag, send me
    an e-mail and come pick them up.
    
    I'm at HYDRA::WHITMORE, in TAY2 in Littleton, MA.  I do the 495 circuit
    at least once a week so I could even deliver to your poor starving
    horse.

    This is a little bizarre but I was wondering if anyone hordes back

    an Indian burial ground and was spooking the horses.

I'm a coop here at Digital and have a 2 yr old QH mare that is enrolled into 
a futurity in Northampton the weekend of May 10. I do not have a trailer or truck
and am in need of a safe, reasonably priced truck and trailer for this trip.
I would need to be hauled that Friday afternoon and back home to Concord on Sun.

    I'd recommend *against* used riding helmets. For one thing if they're
    old, they may not met current safety standards. Most of the helmets
    made more than a few years ago do not. Such helmets are unlikely to
    protect your brains or your child's  in a fall.
    
    Another reason is that the helmets may have been involved in one or
    more falls. Often such helmets will *look*  fine but actually have
    hidden structural damage which would allow them to fail if you fell.
    
    The Troxel helmets are fairly cheap ($40 - $50) and you may evn be able
    to get a discount off that price. There were some head injury
    prevention programs that gave certificates for Troxel discounts. I
    think there are notes on SAFETY and/or HELMETS which have the details.

    I know we are not even thinking about next winter yet but here goes
    anyway.  I have a Weather Beeta (sp?) winter blanket that I'd like to
    sell.  I got as a christmas gift from my non-horsey mother and it ended
    up being too small for my horse.  It's a size 72 and in excellent, very
    new condition since he only wore it once for about an hour.  It's red
    (as most Weether Beetas are I believe) with plaid lining inside.  It
    has front closure buckels, a tail flap, surcingle straps around the
    belly and leg straps.  It's a really nice blanket but it just doesn't
    fit.  As a matter of fact, I liked it so much I went out and bought one
    in a larger size and it cost me over $90.00.  I would like to sell this
    blanket for $50.00 so if anyone needs one or knows of anyone who needs
    one you can give me a call at DTN: 223-8139 (I would suggest leaving a
    message since I'm rarely at my desk).

    I should also add to my previous note that the blanket is said to be
    waterproof by the manufacturer.  I let my horse run in and out of his
    stall into a paddock in the winter and if he was ever outside when it
    was snowing, raining..... he always stayed dry so........

    If you can't find the kind of saddle you want, you can "make-do"
    with an ordinary english saddle if it has D's on the pommel. What you
    do is get a lunging strap which buckles onto the D's. Provides a nice
    hand-hold for kids or "grups" on the lead/lunge line.

What discipline are you looking for - hunter/jumper, dressage,

Farm Tack and Treasures in Acton (508-263-4222), or Mrs. Stephens in 
Wayland (see the Pedlar or Equine Journal for contact information).

Or, you might try going to some of the local show barns and ask if 
anyone there has something that they've outgrown that they would be 
willing to sell.
