2583.0. "need shimano 105 front hub" by SUPER::ROCHE () Tue Jun 01 1993 12:20

    	I'm looking to purchase a Shimano 105 front hub. I've checked
    	out the Performance catalog and they appear to sell them in
    	front and rear pairs. The price for both is $57.

    	I need some help in knowing what a good price is, and whether
    	it's status quo to have to buy a pair.

    	Any pointers to the best place to purchase appreciated!

    thanks,
    mary

In general, most people with lot's of bikes in their stable
have too many front wheels hanging around and need rear wheels.
It should be easy for you to find a front hub cheaply.
(I have a 36 hole Campy Record used if you are interested)

Try a local bike shop. You should be able to pick up a 105 at about $25.00 if
they have already sold the rear. Most people come in to the shop with damage
rear wheels and they just what a new rear one. You might even get a 600
Ultregra or a Campy if you are lucky. Rememmber, they don't have to match
unless you rather have them match.

Good Luck,

2583.5Take the campy and take the .4 offerSTRATA::ASMITHFri Jun 04 1993 13:4116

    Mary,

         Do you lace your own wheels ( install the spokes )? I saw someone
    offer you a used campy record ( I assume that the hub is part of a
    builtup wheel ). Since you need a front hub it probaly does not make
    much of a difference that the campy hub has 36 holes unless you have
    some kind of attachment to 32 hole hubs ( weight considerations, ect ).

         I am no fan of campy components in general but I do like the campy
    hubs. If the offer for the campy hub still stands I would take it and
    the offer from .4 if I were you, then you will hopefully have two good
    front wheels.
