I don't understand the reference to "Woody".
Please enlighten me.

UMCA = Ultra Marathon Cycling Association (The people who
bring you the Race Across AMerica (RAAM))
NPC = National Points Challenge (I believe)
A bunch of different categories for high-mileage
cyclists.
John Ellis has been the NPC champ for the last couple
of years. Only mega-milers need apply

Scott has it right.
The NPC also has a
- Standard Division for organized rides over 151 miles
in length (for multiday rides, at least 200 miles per day - e.g.,
Boston-Montreal-Boston), and an
- Open Division, for self-initiated rides over 151 miles (and same
rules as Standard for multiday rides). Open Division riders have
to get roadside witnesses every 50 miles, for verification.
There are also Tandem and Roller divisions.
Century Division rides must be published, organized rides, by the way,
and that's what Ed and Linda seem intent on devouring this year. :-)
