Ohshima-san,
Let me be the first to ask: what is an "WO" tire? A brand of tire
or a type of tire?
As a totally-non-triathlete, I would imagine the best wheels & tires
for triathlons would be a time-trial set-up, since a triathlon is
essentially a time-trial. That might mean a 26-inch or 24-inch wheel,
something like a tri-spoke design (with perhaps a disk for the rear
wheel), and tubulars to save weight. It also depends on how long the
bicycling portion (in Triathlete parlance, the "bike") of the event
will be. For example, the Ironman "bike" is 112 miles, and competitors
may be using some other set-up.
Are you doing triathlons or other types of racing now? Are there many
such events in the Osaka area? I hope this helps...
cheers,
-john

2134.2 | The Best rim for Michelin 26inch 700C | TKTVFS::OHSHIMA_H | C/S LOGISTICS OSAKA | Tue Nov 26 1991 03:38 | 26 |

Hello.
In Japan "WO" means a type of tire. Perhaps you usually call it "700C".
My friend is doing Triathlons. He wants to purchase 26-inch Michelin 700C
Super-Comp tire and aero type rim. ( The best matching for use triathlons.)
Please teach me abort it.
Thank you very much, John-san.
By the way,I am racer of MTB. My bike is Merlin !
Here are many events. (Head office of Shimano and Suntour are in Osaka.)
If you wish to perticipate in the event (Triathlons, Biathlons, MTB biathlons,
MTB race, Road race, as you like!), I can help you with my pleasure.
Next year MTB biathlon series "TOYOTA CUP" will start.
Regards,
Hiroshi

2134.3 | At last a term I understand... | BONNET::HEMMINGS | Lanterne Rouge | Tue Nov 26 1991 04:34 | 2 |
| In the UK, it means "wired-on" so as to distinguish from "tubs". I just
knew all the old terms would finally come back......

2134.4 | some rim choices | SHALOT::ELLIS | John Lee Ellis - assembly required | Tue Nov 26 1991 07:51 | 14 |

Robin: Aha! As ed.f will testify, that was my guess. I'm glad that
a cyclist-of-experience such as yourself was in the audience. :-)
Hiroshi: Is there a difficulty finding such tires and rims in Japan?
People seem to like the Michelins, so that is a good choice.
For aero rims or aero-like rims, people here recommend the
Mavic Open 4-CD, Campagnolo Omega, Sevedra (the Argentinian brand
I mentioned a few days ago), or Nisi. I don't know of Japanese
manufacturers of this type of rim. Are 3-spoke wheels popular
in your area (not for MTB but for triathlons)?

-john

Thank you Robbin-san and John-san.
We can't purchase the Michelin in Japan. Traders aren't interested in the
Michelin. Because it is too small demand.
I have seen 3-spoke wheels at bike-part of triathlons only recently.
(Only ZAPP,Aero spoke and Specialized.) But not so many.

Hiroshi
