    The 16th Annual Assault on Mt. Mitchell is planned for May 19th
    (Sunday) this year.  The arrangements are about the same as last year:
    
      - optional Kiwanis Club $3 pancake breakfast,
      - pre-registration (by mail) required ... by May 11th,
      - check-in on evening of the 18th or morning of the 19th,
      - 6:30am starting time; 6:30pm cut-off time,
      - bus service from Mt. Mitchell back to Spartanburg or Marion.
    
    New for 1991:
    
      - $45 entry fee (was $35 last year) - includes food, T-shirt,
        waterbottle, Exceed, lunch up top, bus-ride back,
      - there *may* be a limit on the number of riders - first come,
        first served (brochure doesn't mention a cut-off number),
      - one small personal bag will be carried to the summit if you
        like: you can put dry clothes, food, books, etc., in the bag.
    
    The bag probably responds to people's reaching the summit amidst
    a thunderstorm, in the 40's, and having to wait *hours* for the
    bus-ride down.
