Could you honor us with some tales of the trip, or would that
be too monumental?
How long did it take? Why did you choose east-to-west?

| Deb,
I agree with John Lee. You gave us a teaser, but no trip
report. That'll never do (I'm just kidding).
What kinda bike did you use?
Scott (Maybe some day I'll do it)

1760.6 | Look for "Deb's Guide to Transcontinental Cycling!" | STAFF::ERICKSON | John Erickson, DTN 232-2590 | Fri Oct 12 1990 08:50 | 14 |
| Congratulations, Deb!
I don't expect to see your _trip_report_ here --- after such a
trip, I'd expect to read about your ride in
_National_Geographic_!
Seriously, you are now our resident conference expert on
transcontinental rides --- perhaps you could give us bits and
pieces about topics such as EQUIPMENT, LODGING, PYSCHOLOGY,
SAFETY, etc. I'm sure you have enough to write a book!
Have a GREAT one!

| The only way to see the country! Congratulations.
My former girl friend (now wife!) biked X-country but only one way though.
That was 10 years ago but still remains the most enjoyable experience of
my life. I hope to do it again sometime.

| Re: .7 I AGREE!! It is the only way to see a country. When I was 17,
I put myself and my bike on a plane to St. John's Newfoundland and rode
back to Ottawa (~1800 miles). Not only you get to see more than in a
car, you can stop anywhere you want and talk to the locals. Many time,
I was invited in for breakfast by locals.

| RE: 1760.8
See note 947.4.
Barbara and Larry Savage road around the world. She wrote a
book about the experience. Some of it is somewhat comical;
some of it is awful.
Sadly, Barbara Savage was killed training for a triathlon.

1760.10 | Need Route Advice LA to San Diego | RGB::LAWRENCE | | Mon Oct 22 1990 18:48 | 7 |
| Hi Deb,
I will be riding from LA (San Pedro) to Del Mar (north of San Diego) in
three weeks (see how I save the company money? - no rental car!) and I
could sure use any information you have about preferred routes over
that stretch, if you went that way. I'll send MAIL> separately in case
you don't see this. Thanks,
Dick Lawrence
