1750.0. "Another Trek 1200 Question" by EDUHCI::BUXTON (Curse of the Bambino Strikes Again) Tue Oct 02 1990 11:52

    My wife's brand new Trek 1200 fell the other day (she wasn't on
    it thankfully). The cross tube sustained some minor chips when
    it met the pavement. Only the finish was chipped, not the black
    paint.

    What compound(s) make up the finish (epoxy, acrylic??), and is it
    easily repaired??

    Thanks,

1750.1Touch-Up PaintEAGLE1::CAMILLITue Oct 02 1990 16:424
	I was able to buy touch-up paint for my Fuji at a dealer...
	(Little bottles with brushes in the caps just like car
	touch-up paint.) Maybe Trek offers the same.

    Whew... I was about to suggest Plastic Wood and Rustoleum.
    For the type of riding I do, only the strongest space-age
    polymers and resins will do -- crash just once when the
    drogue chute doesn't deploy, and believe me, you have some
    patch work to take care of!

1750.3Yes, Trek sells touch-up paintLEVERS::GULICKWed Oct 03 1990 09:378
	Yes, Trek does sell little bottles of touch-up paint. I have
	gotten them at Lincoln Guide Service but I would hope that any
	Trek dealer would have them as well. Be forewarned, the color
	may not be an exact match to your frame due to random factors
	like weathering, etc...

	Good luck,
