Goodales will be participating in a Nation Wide
three day Sale (Latest Issue of Cyclist) starting
Friday the 31st at noon. I'd say that the week of
the 26th is when they will be wheeler-dealing on
the bikes that they have in inventory at that time.

1031.2Any Yakima sales in Central MA.??ELWOOD::MILLARMon Jun 04 1990 13:445
Are there any sales going on now ,in the Worcester MA. area, on Yamima
bike racks..Or do any dealers in this area give any discounts on Yakima
    products..

    Thanks..John

In another note, someone mentioned that bikes would be going on sale in
October, (it's past the end of the riding season, but before the
Christmas rush). When, if ever, do things like clipless pedal,
    shifters, etc. go on sale?

    Thanks,

When new models come out, obsoleting the old ones. I don't think
that's every year or a certain time of year.

For example, the single-pivot Shimano 105 and Ultegra brake calipers
may have been marked down prior to the dual-pivot ones being introduced.
That may not have occurred in this case, but you get the idea.

Also, there are sales that bike shops run to get people into the
store. As I recall, most are in the spring.

Finally, your watchword should be "the new season's trendy color."
For example, if Vogue or Cosmo indicates that Hot Pink will be pass
next fall, that's your clue that clearance of Hot Pink shorts, aero
bars, and inner tubes may be in the offing. ;-) ;-)

Yeah, gotta watch for those Hot Pink inner tubes.

Some of the dealers have Super Sales around the last weekend of March
and the first weekend of August. Schwinn (can I say that here?)
Madness is in the spring about 1 week after Super Sale. Gus' in
North Hampton, NH, has a clearance around September 1. I figure it's
because the beach traffic is leaving town.

John Bocko (owner of Gus' International Bike Shop) tells me he's
finally sold almost everything except the really tall of really short
bikes and the colors nobody wanted. I guess "almost" is relative
because it still looks like he's got a lot of stuff but a lot less
    than he had in June.

Slow times and best prices are usually October and March.

1031.6Am I wasting my time looking for a sale?SCAACT::AINSLEYLess than 150 kts is TOO slowThu Sep 10 1992 17:425
I asked the question as I would like to get some clipless pedals from
Santa and would like to know when I should tell Mrs. Santa to go snag
    the ones I want.

It would be challenging for Mrs Santa to find exactly what you want,
but if an elf were to scout the shops first and then drop the hints
it might be easier. Nashbar and Performance also often have end of
    year close-outs.

And sometimes you can really luck out with the mail-order close-outs.

A few months ago I ordered a pair of LOOK PP56s (entry level) that Nashbar had
on close-out. They were back-ordered. Around the predicted date a box arrived
with a set of pedals - The pedals were PP76s though - two models up!

    re: .7

Mrs. Claus will receive a DETAILED wish list with part numbers and
    contact name.

    re: .8

Since I'm likely to require special fitting for my right foot, I don't
think mail order is the way to go for this.
