Is anyone going to Le Mans this year? I'm heading over on Sunday evening with the intention of going to the scrutineering/parade on Monday and Tuesday. I've not done this before and thought I should do it once... I'd be interested anyone has had any experiences of this. Scrutineering last year took place in the Place des Jacobins in the old town. Is this normal? Has anyone seen a timetable for the week they could post? I'm particularly keen to find out what happening on Saturday pre-race. I'd also be interested in any experiences of camping in Camping Rouge or Maison Blanche. What are the facilities like? Is there direct access to the circuit or do you have to leave the campsite and then use one of the public entrances? Some other facts gleaned from the press recently... General entry this year is FF400 (52) - Stands are 70 - 110. Camping is 25 - 50 (where do you get to camp for 50? I was in Du Houx last year and it was about 25) Race starts at 16:00 (so clashes with England beating Scotland :-)) There is an unofficial BPR website at www.p9.com Richard.

All I can say is WATCH OUT FOR THE TOILETS!! In all the years I've been going to Le Mans it's been really great but you do have to watch out for the local rip off artists, the great thing is that everyone gets on great especially when you think about the mix of nationalities that are there (predominately Germans and Brits). I'm not going this year (Boo Hoo) but I hope you have a great time!

Do you mean that you get ripped off in the toilets ? Or is it that everyone let's rip when they're in the toilets ? Reargards, Stephen

<<< Note 2521.1 by CHEFS::JACKSON_G >>> -< I'm Jealous >- >>> All I can say is WATCH OUT FOR THE TOILETS!! Why? Do they go fast? Or do they hog the whole track? Perhaps they wait around the corner for unsuspecting spectators and leap out upon them? The bog mindles really! Malcolm. ;^)

Take your own bog paper and pray it's so hot you don't have to go often! You'll soon realise what we mean ;-) I'll be there for the 5th year in a row. If ya want good photos I recommend getting to the track early for the final warm-up. Stephen.

So, Rheinold Joest won again, as a team manager this time, and with a 1991 TWR chassis designed for a Jaguar engine ! Great show by the new Porsche GT cars, although several people argue that before you can call them GT's they should be available for sale on the open market like the McLarens are. 3 McLarens in 4th, 5th and 6th position. Poor display, as expected, by the F333SP, which are no endurance cras anyway. Lots of problems for veteran Mario Andretti and the Courage. Oh yes, the 1996 Le Mans winners: - Davey Jones - Manuel reuter - Alexander Wurz, 22 years old, 1st Le Mans race Wurz becomes the youngest winner of the 24h on his 1st attempt.
