2206.0. "Where are they now?" by FUTURS::SAXBY (Is it friday yet?) Mon Jan 17 1994 13:41

Looking through this notes conference (and others) brings to mind
noters who've faded from view, so I thought I'd start a 'Where are
    they now' note.

Questions like, where are they, what do they drive now, are ever
present (well sort of) in my mind.

People who spring to mind (in no particular order) :-

    Nigel Guest
    Gordon Cameron
    John Rutter
    Colin Kennedy
    Bill Betts
    Ross Watson
    Billy Mulqueen
    Mark Matthews
    Ian Philpott
    John Lindley
    John Lincoln
    Brian Naylor
    ...

So, can anyone say 'Where they are now'?

    Mark

I can answer for Ian Philpott.

He left the Digital and the UK earley '93, having obtained a contract
in Australia. That contract has obviously expired as I had a letter
from him in November saying he has moved to Thailand.

John Lindley left to set up a consultancy company with a couple
of colleagues. I see him from time to time. He appears to be doing well.

He moved to the Washington DC area and bought an Alfa Romeo Graduate
(spider). He left Digital a little after that and I have not heard from
him since.

I don't think this has been mentioned in this conference but our
friend in car fleet Doug Arnold is no longer with us.

... and he will be sadly missed!

Despite all the messing around with the Digital car scheme, Doug took
pride in the work that he did, and cared about the folks who were
impacted by it.

Looks like we are on our own again in this conference!

Yes Mark, I'm still around (though I don't note in here).

   What do I drive ?

Well currently it's a Honda Civic (my girlfriend liked it and, at about
1000 miles a week, I'm past caring). The Mini clutch expired (see comment
on milage) and the Porsche is still being cosseted.

See you about some time ?

Nigel Guest is working in London. He's sold his MR2 and relies on London
Transport, so the country's lorries are safe.

Cheers,

Graham.

point of order here,

Nobody "...relies on London Transport,..."

You use it,
    when it's available,
      and when it arrives.

Timetables and schedules are for decoration of only.

True, the bus problems are exacerbated by other traffic, but when was the last
time you saw a van parked and delivering on the Central Line ?

Other than that, it's nice to know that Guestie is still about. Maybe it's time
to organise the old-boys reunion ? '94 Le Mans perhaps ?

Sounds good - except I don't know how Nigel will keep up on the drive
back home this time :-)

I'm still around, occasionally... but very rarely have chance to read
notes, hardly ever to write. Anyway, to the salient details - driving a
Golf GTi on the company (not all its cracked up to be), and a 911 Club
Sport for fun (Nurburgring next week!). Based out of Basingstoke, more
often found providing consultancy in Cambridge or the Channel Islands.
    Life could be worse.

Regards to anyone who remembers me (Mark, Patrick, Dave etc).

    William (aka Bill).

PS. Would love to do Le Mans - a friend may be racing his 911 this year.
I think, though, the dates clash with a driving course at the
    Nurburgring...

Does anyone know how Derek and Elaine Mitchell are?

We've not spoken to them since before Christmas and I wondered if
anyone else here was in contact with them? Is Derek planning to race
this year, or is the 23 a thing of the past?
