2199.0. "New shape Ibiza" by HLRG02::NOTES (Opel Manta) Mon Jan 03 1994 08:52

    Hi all,

    Happy 1994.

I didn't see any note about the new shape SEAT IBIZA.

I like the shape and today I 'll get mine.
    I get a white 2.0 GTI.
I read a few articles about this car in magazines and all were very
    positive about this car.

Let me know what your opinion is about this car.

    Greetings,

    /-/ Henk.

I think it's too new to the market for there to be much to comment on,
other than as you say, the reviews look favourable, and I too think it
    looks good.

There is not much in common between today's IBIZA and the previous
    model.

Today's car is basically a VW design from top to bottom. The previous
IBIZA was a slightly modified FIAT RITMO. Given that the original RITMO
platform and components were disastrous in terms of road handling, the
SEAT version could not improve much and in fact the SEAT was worse than
the FIAT. The only thing of interest was the engine (designed by the
Porsche Weissach labs) although I must say that the good old twin cam
Fiat engine was certainly more interesting, but ... royalties ... etc

Sorry for the digression. Nothing to do with the shape which is very
    much a personal taste issue.

For UK viewers RITMO :== STRADA (Remember the ad - built by robots,
                                      driven by ***)

Oh and wasn't there another ad, sort of an "Italian Job" ripoff or am I
    thinking of something else ?
