1955.0. "SHOW MOD" by WARNUT::NISBETD ([email protected]) Mon Nov 23 1992 17:08

Why does SHOW MOD or SHOW MEM produce nothing? If there is a sinister
reason, please don't hesitate to delete this.

    It seems ok now. Didn't work earlier. Even tried to test it using
    SEND/MOD and it failed.

    How do you keep track of your unseen map with several access points
    from different nodes ?

     How do you keep track of your unseen map with several access points
     from different nodes ?

    	Are you asking the author of .2 how *he* does it, or is this
    	a general enquiry on how it can be done?

    	Ian.
1955.5There's a conference for questions about NOTESIOSG::SHOVEDave Shove -- REO-D/3CThu Nov 26 1992 10:1312
    It's possible to use a remote notebook - just define a logical
    NOTES$NOTEBOOK:

    $DEFINE NOTES$NOTEBOOK node::diskwhatever:[directory]notes$notebook

    You'll need to either make your notebook world accessible ($set
    file/prot=w:rwe ...) or (better) I believe you can make your remote
    node/account a "member" of it by treating it as a conference but I'm
    not sure how you do that. There's a conference somewhere about how to
    use NOTES.

    Surely when you do:

    set mem "Michael"/access=(dubsws:kane,dub01::mkane etc..)

    then it's all taken care of by NOTES anyway ?
    i.e. Declare the access points from which you'll be invoking NOTES and
    the rest is "All done by machines :-)"

    Re:.4 Well, both really.

    Re:.5 Thats one way of doing it, but isn't your directory open to hacking
    unless you play with ACLs ?

    RE: .5 - yes, your notebook (not your directory) is open to hacking if
    you just set protection=World. So .6's SET MEM method is the best way -
    that was what I was trying to remember how do to!
