I found out from fleet that the new base car will be the 1.6LS.
However a quote for this is �234 so, and I quote, 'some manipulation of
the figures is required'. As far as I could gather the preffered list
would be changed to reflect this change and the change to the Sierra -
but no idea when.

| Anyone else see an ad last night stating that ALL NEW CAVALIERS would
be fitted with an AIRBAG as a NO COST option?.
Look like pushback at the threat from the Mondeo, as airbags aren't
mentioned in the cavalier brochure or price list at the moment.

| I've only seen the TV ads that show the safety features of the
Cavaliers but they show the airbags, although they say that they'll be
available from March in the text at the end of the advert.

| The ad also mentions ABS which isn't standard across the range.

| I saw the advert. I'm pretty sure they did say that airbags are (or
perhaps 'will be') standard on all Cavaliers.

I saw the add and they said the air-bag is available as a no-cost
option.

| According to this weeks Autocar, all new Cavaliers and Calibras (as well
as the Astra GSi) will now have a drivers air bag as standard, at no
extra cost. The tiltable wheel option has been deleted.
Of course, my car was built last week, before this was announced. How can
you tell if the air bag is fitted? The wheel looks just like a standard
one...

| If it looks like a std. one then it won't have the air bag.
The Prelude has an air bag and the stearing wheel is noticable bulkier
around the ``hub''. Also if you look under the bonnet you can see the
actuator - complete with warning telling you not to disconnect it in BIG
letters.
